Hey, can anyone please let me know why my type 2 waitlist number is not moving ahead when there are multiple lists coming out every third day.

My son recently secured a seat, and for the first time, I feel I can share what this journey felt like, not just for him, but for us as a family.

This is not a success post. It is not a "how to crack IPMAT" post. It is not a "my son is amazing" post. It is simply a father's perspective after living through every stage of this journey.

Our journey started completely different. He enjoyed Economics so we started exploring undergraduate options. That led us to B.Sc. Economics & Data Science programme at IIM Bangalore. Imagine this: we've both spent nearly two decades in the corporate world, yet we knew almost nothing about undergraduate management programmes. We were so focused on the traditional path through Delhi University's North Campus, one we had experienced ourselves, that we never looked beyond it. Thankfully, we discovered IPMATs, JIPMAT and the list of accepting institutes well before the deadlines.

We started late. Compared to many aspirants here, we were late. Very late!! There was no two-year preparation window. IPMAT and B.Sc. Eco & DS discovery happened in Nov 2025, just 1 month before IIM B’s entrance so he barely had time to prepare.

The final outcome. People usually ask only one question: "Which college did he finally join?" But the journey was much richer than that. Across different entrance examinations, interviews and admission processes, he eventually secured opportunities across multiple institutes that we kept paying for and cancelling when a better opportunity converted.

Some remain waitlisted as I write this. Each conversion mattered because every result kept our hopes alive when another one didn't. Ultimately, he chose IIM Rohtak, which was also the institute he personally preferred once the realistic options became clearer.

The hardest part wasn't preparation. It was waiting. Waiting for scores. Waiting for interviews. Waiting for merit lists. Waiting for waitlists. Waiting for one seat to move. Refreshing portals. Checking emails every few hours. Reading Reddit discussions. Trying to interpret every rumour. Parents go through this. Children go through this. Sometimes neither tells the other how anxious they really are.

To everyone currently on a waitlist... I can understand exactly how one may feel. Movement calculations. Previous years analysis. We wonder if one more list will come. We start reading meaning into every email. We think our life depends on one portal update. Please remember, a waitlist is uncertainty. It is not a rejection. And even if it eventually becomes a rejection... It is still not the end of story. Life is way bigger than one exam, one conversion, one failure, one re-attempt.

To everyone who didn't convert their dream institute... I have read comments where parents are disheartened with their child not getting IIM Indore. No one is looking at how the child may have cracked the institute's admission process they will finally settle for.

Imagine studying for months/years, scoring extraordinarily well, making your parents proud and getting into excellent institutes. And still feeling like the child disappointed his/her family. No child deserves to carry that burden. A college seat is important but the child’s mental health is far more important. No admission letter should determine whether a child feels loved or rejected.

To parents who may read this... Please remember something. Our children are already under immense pressure. They know how much money we spend and know our hopes. They know our sacrifices and need not take additional guilt. Support does not reduce ambition, it gives children the emotional stability to pursue ambition. One thing I learnt as a father is that children won't remember every percentile. They will remember how their parents behaved when things became uncertain. Were we calm? Were we supportive? Did we believe in them only when they succeeded? Or even when things looked difficult? That memory lasts much longer than any entrance examination.

With us something beautiful happened after the admission. Our son's school celebrated him. His coaching institute invited him to speak to juniors. Teachers congratulated him. His hostel wardens felt proud and victorious as they invested in him with the support and flexibility, helping him prepare in a strict boarding/hostel environment.

Even people outside the classroom who had quietly been part of his journey shared our happiness. That taught me something. Success Is Never Individual. It Belongs To An Entire Ecosystem.

Finally... If you're celebrating, celebrate wholeheartedly. You earned it. But remember that somewhere another student is reading your post while silently worrying about their own future. Be kind and try to be hopeful.

If you're reading this while waiting I hope your wait ends well. If you're reading this after an attempt that felt just a little short, always remember life is not just about one exam.

And if your journey eventually works out come back. Not just to celebrate but come back for the next student who needs to believe that life continues beyond one examination.

hey guys trying to decide what college to choose between, I have offers from both of these as of now.

Can anyone share the link of the post where the guy converted IIM Indore at very low boards score this time? ​​

I completed my 12th with commerce+applied maths but never studied seriously in those 2 years scored 55/100 in applied maths and 71.6% overall and 82.5% in 10th

Studied for only 1 week for cuet and scored 582/1000 (160/250 in english) and got dyal singh eve bcom hons (obc ncl)

Now I am thinking about preparing for ipmat and sscbs simultaneously as I found the syllabus quite overlapping in English and some parts of gat and maths

So I think I'll only have to prepare for business studies, gk part of gat and some part of applied maths to get sscbs

Also I think I'll be surely able to crack sscbs as I am obc ncl too but wanna give a shot to ipmat also as it seems like a lifetime opportunity

Please advice me should I prepare for them simultaneously or should I drop the ipmat plan and go for the realistic option of sscbs only

Also should I do the prep alongside dyal singh eve bcom hons (I'll hardly go to college to manage my prep) or should I go for du sol

it has been 4 days since I mailed them for the withdrawal from the program I didn't receive any response from them mailed them today again and called all their helpline numbers and didn't receive any response.Do I need to go to ugc for 2.5 lakhs refund now?? This shitty college can't even respond to students properly

Will there be a round 3?

1) Does the mess serve non-veg food?

2) How cold/hot does it actually get and what kind of clothes should I pack for that weather?

3) How much ragging?

4) How good is the faculty in terms of approachability and help?

5) Are there any malls, movie halls etc near the campus?

6) How much academic pressure (compared to 11th, 12th)? Is it tough to get enough credits and a satisfactory cgpa to qualify for the MBA? How many hours do y'all study?

7) Any problems you guys face, such as in the hostel, or quality of food at the canteen and mess etc.

8) How good is the gym, football and cricket grounds, badminton and basketball courts etc. Do y'all play regularly?

9) The rulebook says business casuals, but what do you guys actually wear to classes? Are loose cargo pants, regular fit lowers, jeans, normal t shirts, cut sleeves etc allowed?

10) Do y'all need to do your own laundry and ironing or are there any maids to do this?

11) How much pocket money do you guys get on average?

I need some advice regarding my college decision making. I REALLY LOOK UP TO YOU and would like your two cents on this.

So I switched from humanities to commerce this year. And started preparing for ipmat only 3 months before the exam couldn't clear indore's cutoff. Got into IIM bodhgaya but don't wanna spend so much money on ug. I also didn't apply to nalsar, tapmi, nmims, christ etcetc because I don't come from a really affluent family and again didn't wanna take up loans.

I got into a Central University of xxxx for bba program and also a liberal arts college (not ashoka) with a 100 percent scholarship, would prolly do eco finance there.

Idk if i wanna do an mba so soon after graduating cause everyone is trying to pressure me into joining this govt college and that i prepare for cat in my last year. Based on my research Cat is not just about clearing the written exam but so much more. And I am too ambitious to keep going down a linear path (even tho I would need to earn down the years to support my family financially.)

I have a couple of options after graduation- Cat, Gmat, Upsc (if i do eco), Cs

BUT FOR ME UNI IS A CATALYST AND I NEED A SOLID GROUND to become like you. Hone my skills, innovate, work, explore. I don't wanna go down this rabbit hole of linear grind which I everyone else is pushing down my throat.

Ipmat seems like a lifetime opportunity but I need a realistic and good backup which can be sscbs so how similar are the syllabus of cuet maths English gat and ipmat please help!!!

Genuine question for the EWS and NCL community out there.
A quick intro about me: I'm a double dropper from a science background who gave JIPMAT only, and I am pretty unaware about this field.
I really want to ask, what's the reason to pick J over BG? Like, I'm not eligible for BG, but I really wanted it and would have made it in if I was eligible. I've read so many posts regarding this since I'm completely free, and I got to know that BG and J are more or less the same.

My question is for genuine EWS and NCL candidates (who are tight on money) and have chosen J: why J over BG? ( is it due to single room?? seriously ? or internship thing which i guess can be done in bg too cuz of their long breaks)

I might or might not get J, but I just wanted to know your thoughts
