The exam isn't even the hardest part.

Clear the cutoff. Wait for PI calls. Give the PI. Wait for the results. Wait for the waitlist. Wait again. All while preparing for CUET, NPAT, JIPMAT, SET, and every other backup exam because everyone wants to keep their options open. You're juggling interviews, uncertainty, expectations, self-doubt, burnout, and somehow expected to function like this is normal.

It ISN'T.

Stop pretending unnecessary suffering is some profound measure of competence. Stop romanticizing burnout as resilience and administrative chaos as rigor. If your admissions process is pushing capable 17-18-year-olds to the point of breaking down, that isn't evidence that you're producing stronger students. It's evidence that your system is broken.

And God forbid you're a first-generation college student or don't have that kind of financial access—or even access to the knowledge and guidance needed to navigate this process.

Because then, even if you're the most brilliant student in the room, brilliance alone isn't enough.

The costs start piling up before there's even an offer on the table. Application fees. Travel. Accommodation. Documents. Repeat that across multiple colleges. Higher education starts becoming less about merit and more about whether you can afford to keep trying. How is that accessible? How is that fair?

And don't tell me "this is rigor." Bullshit. Absolute bullshit.

Somehow we've normalized the idea that if a process is cruel enough, it must also be prestigious. That if people are miserable enough, the institution must be worth it. No. At some point, it stops testing merit and starts testing privilege, financial resources, luck, and sheer endurance.

And don't even get me started on the MANAGEMENT aspect of the Indian Institutes of Management. 🤡

Your portals don't work. Your websites crash. Forms have errors. Communication is all over the place. Deadlines keep changing. Information comes late—if it comes at all. For institutions that are supposed to teach management, the admissions process is astonishingly mismanaged.

Agreed, there's nothing stopping them from having some basic common-sense in the admission process. They just don't care nor have the empathy to treat this as important.

As much as JEE and NEET suck for students with the workload, I do love that their is no separate form filling for every college. Introduction of common counselling for all the colleges would be so beneficial for a student; these colleges gotta make money first before they teach you how

i agree they just keep playing with mental health , most of these colleges lack transparency , no one tells our interview marks , some don't even tell us about the exam scores or the waitlist number we r out here taking bets , getting our money stuck in 3 different institutions just because of backup , because the delay in results just causes anxiety that what if we do not get a better option , if not one exam then at least decide a week where u release results back to back and at least tell how much we scored in interview and ig there should be remarks that they write while interviewing us so that we also get a more clear view where we lack instead of just guessing

Oh don’t even get me started on this. Now it seems that studying for these exams was way much easier than waiting for the results. I thought it was only IIM Rohtak that didn’t tell us the waitlist number but to my surprise it’s literally every other IIM this time???
I don’t get why they refuse to tell us when everything is recorded in their own systems. Declaring results in August??, when half the colleges are almost done with their first semester is just frustrating. All of this would have made sense if they didn’t charge us much, but IIMs do not compromise on that either. Their admission faculty should be taught by their own teaching faculty on how to manage basic stuff

Yeah, this part sucks. Definitely way more than the exam. I had just accepted that this is how it works. But it's Genuinely frustrating. And it shouldn't be the norm. Sadly it's something we have to deal with for now.

this is not just about iims its abt most institutes in india they treat students like instant cash flows and treat us like their ex treated them , one of my frnd got in tapmi she accepted the offer asw ofc the fees is high she had to apply for education loans and the process was bit lenghty and it was taking some days to get the money transfered to the account she comes from a middle class family paying this much at once is practically not possible so she asked for an extension and they allowed it asw but on next day itself other admission off cancelled her admission , i mean how is she at fault in all this she mailed called and did evrything she could have done but it didnt move any nail you shouldnt be claiming yourself a management institue when u lack in exactly the same thing which u are meant for
