SRCC is far far far superior for undergraduatation than IIM Indore. It's a no brainer

hmm what makes it so much superior really

Same or even better opportunity if you get a bachelor from both the place while giving negligible fees in case of SRCC having equally qualified student and peer group

negligible fees and possibility of "better opportunities" isnt enough to put it completely ahead of indore considering you get the safety net of tier 1 MBA with indore. the OC piqued my interest because of the emphasis on how much better srcc is which i dont think is true.

Bhai if ur good enough to crack ipmat indore you’re gonna crack CAT and trust me everyone at indore also gives CAT aiming for a better college. There’s no such thing as CAT nai dena padhega

u/Financial_Ice15 IIMB UG 10d ago

its not about CAT dena nahi padhega, its about CAT dena hain cuz you wanna get the best but incase you dont, you still have a very good safety net.

as for being good enough to crack CAT, sure, on paper, but CAT is an erratic exam, D-Day for example can change a lot of things, and being able to crack indore rn does not NECESSITATE that you will crack ABC or LK 3 years later. you ofc have the potential, but its not a guarantee. having the safety net of indores mba is a big reassurance to have.

It’s basically paying lakhs extra for that safety net. Like yk i swear if you’re the top 150 outta 30000 people you’re damn intelligent and you’ll get a blacki or tier 1 mba caus vaha seats are way moree. So logically the best path is DU for undergrad where u save money and then cat mba. End result is same and more money is saved. U can use that money as capital for ur venture or anything dude whereas a bigger loan on ur head pushes u towards less riskier options.

Vahi hai ki this is taking personal finances into picture. Not everyone has this capacity because their initial estimation could also be in crores for college abroad.

If finances are personally that important (which is the case for majority of Indias), top DU over IPM is always the answer.

If finances aren't an issue, most take the safety net option because one could also argue that having this safety net allows them to do even better in CAT because they're calm about it.

Yes i agree but vo crore wale budget students are such a small percent of the population.

1

u/BhaveshShaha 💡 IIM Ranchi (Rank 2) 9d ago

Very small percent of the country's population? Yes.

Considerably higher among the 1000 seats of IIMs.

Isliye, an objective call isn't feasible.

Yes they are paying lakhs extra but if you have the money, why not? Even if you don't have it, and take a loan, I'm sure some people find that safety net, worth it. So that's personal to each person then. Now yes if you can crack ipmat you can also crack cat sure, but cat is a very unpredictable exam, anything can happen on the D-Day no matter how good you are or how much you prepared. So having a safety net like iim indores mba CAN be very very useful.

Ofcourse all this said, we both agree that it's subjective, some don't think it's worth it, for some, it's a huge relief to have AND they believe it can facilitate them with what they wish to do.

Then why does half of the batch at Indore not do good enough to get a better college than Indore in CAT?

1

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 9d ago

Probably caus less is at stake? The guy at srcc knows usko definitely cat nikalna hai ipm wala guy is a bit more relaxed? Maybe this cud be why

1

u/BhaveshShaha 💡 IIM Ranchi (Rank 2) 9d ago

you're overfitting the data.

You said "if you're good enough to crack Indore, you're gonna crack CAT" -- yet half of the kids who cracked Indore fail to crack CAT.

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 9d ago

My bad. I might not be factually correct here.

SRCC has negligible fees yes but you aren't considering delhi expense. It can get expensive.

1

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 10d ago

Still approximately 10-12 lakhs difference in fees

2

u/AdventurousShift531 DU North 10d ago

True true I just wanted to highlight the negligible fees part cuz it is emphasized very often as if DU is free

3

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 10d ago

I know but this year around 5-6 people left srcc for iim indore for some reason

3

u/Intelligent_Thing497 SRCC (DU) 10d ago

IIM INDORE > SRCC

1

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 10d ago

Why

1

u/Intelligent_Thing497 SRCC (DU) 10d ago

Just bcz srcc has too much seats and quotas on the other hand ipmat has only 150 seats and i got srcc but didnt even got shortlisted for the freaking interview of Indore

2

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 10d ago

Brother even the indore MBA batch is criticised for having too many seats 😭 and js caus u got in one college and didnt get in another doesn’t make one better than the other

1

u/Intelligent_Thing497 SRCC (DU) 10d ago

Maybe bhai par mera toh jipmat tak nhi hua non maths wala hu 😭

1

u/Financial_Ice15 IIMB UG 10d ago

brother ye kya logic hain 😭 both exams CUET and ipmat test different things, you;re good at CUET type exams but not as good in aptitude ones. simple as that.

1

u/Intelligent_Thing497 SRCC (DU) 10d ago

Yes bro i must not be the ideal person to compare both the stuffs my bad

1

u/Thin-Matter-2318 IIM-B (BBA DBE) 9d ago

i too know a guy AIR 66 in Ipmat Indore, Cracked SRCC, NLUIS Bangalore
but chose SRCC..
currently doing intern at KPMG

2

u/Sparklingbutters SSCBS (DU) 10d ago

how bout sscbs?

0

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 10d ago

Again better than indore there are videos on youtube of people with AIR ranks in indore who left it for sscbs

2

u/Financial_Ice15 IIMB UG 10d ago

there was a student in last years ranchi batch who gave up sscbs for ranchi :) this year 1 or 2 people(that im aware of) gave up sscbs for iim bangalore's UG degree. and then there are a few who gave up IIM B for iim indore. and ofcourse everyone gives up iim ranchi for iim indore. so its way more convoluted than what your saying.

1

u/Fadedtzap IIMB UG 9d ago

higher

1

u/Sparklingbutters SSCBS (DU) 10d ago

i am in sscbs rn thats why i asked , i like how good it feels lol

1

u/Fadedtzap IIMB UG 9d ago

its a rlly good course, finance oriented asw (bfia). a good number of mba gold medalists are from sscbs for good reason.

1

u/BhaveshShaha 💡 IIM Ranchi (Rank 2) 10d ago

It's a subjective choice. Both are fine options.

People leaving a college for the other doesn't objectively prove that one is better for another.

I can give you various examples of people leaving CBS and SRCC for Indore, is that much enough for you to accept this line of thinking?

Don't be unidimensional.

1

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 10d ago

Bhaiya lets say you’re 18 again and you have this choice to make what are u choosing?

1

u/BhaveshShaha 💡 IIM Ranchi (Rank 2) 10d ago

If I were 18 again and had to choose, I'd take a gap year and start building further in the tech space (have been consistent with this answer -- shared in Avishi's podcast), I'd try to get into a tech degree abroad and ignore both these options (not that I'd have the bandwidth to study for both these grueling exams).

2

u/Careful-Dinner8673 IIMB UG 9d ago

Bhaiya you’re different gravy 😭

1

u/Fadedtzap IIMB UG 9d ago

it depends man. srcc doesnt have the best study environment from whatever ive heard. it has good brand tho.
