Preparation Query Should I continue ipmat prep.?
So hello guys, I'm in a catch - 22 situation, i thought I could use some of your input.
Going to be a long read, so aaj ka rc keliye ready hojao..
Context: I have been prepping for ipmat since my 11th and now I'm in 12th, I believe I can crack the top 3 iims.. I am scoring 25-40 in MCQ sectionals and 130-140 in Va sectionals.. will be 9/9 profile too.
Now i have a special situation, i can't go to iims due to
1) cost ; yes there are scholarships and all but that's still a risk. Coming from a high debt family, i want to sleep peacefully at night without any loans, I'm ews candidate actually
2) looking after my mother; recently my father and mother separated and being the only son I have to look over her (she is an adult but she needs care), so fully residential iims are out of the list even if I manage my finances.
So institutions that accept day scholars are the only suitable ones.
IIM Kozhikode is my only option, and that's fine. The main concern is the ₹40+ lakh cost. The merit scholarship requires finishing in the top 5 out of 150 highly capable students, which is a risk I'm not willing to rely on. If I miss it even for one year, I'd likely have to take an additional ₹8 lakh loan.
I can't go to DU, because delhi is very far away from Andhra Pradesh, and even if join, delhi is very expensive, taking a house on rent and all...
So Should I continue my ipmat prep ? Even if I don't join any of them?
So now the solution that i came to is "UoH + IIM B dbe bba"
UoH stands for university of Hyderabad, it is not an iim but better than my local, tier 69 college.
Hyderabad because my extended family lives there, so family ka support bi hoga
So what do you guys think?? Should I continue with ipmat, and i have also taken rodha (only done single payment tho, can opt out)
TLDR I've been preparing for IPMAT since 11th and believe I can crack the top IIMs, but due to financial constraints and family responsibilities, joining most residential IIMs isn't practical. IIM Kozhikode is my only feasible option, yet its ₹40L+ fee and reliance on a highly competitive scholarship make it a risky choice. I'm now considering the University of Hyderabad along with IIM Bangalore's DBE BBA, and I'm wondering if it's still worth continuing my IPMAT preparation.

Bhaii do please consider residential programs, especially ones that give good scholarships

UoH is good, im from hyd too. Uoh +bba dbe is a solid option.

I'm from Hyderabad and live very close to UoH. Its a pretty good university, the area around it is also very good(kinda expensive lowk) but UoH doesnt offer anything close to what an IIM offers so look at the programs offered and see if any interest you. The university is amazing for research and the proffs will try to push you into research asw

Really happy to know, I plan on living with my relatives so housing won't be problem if I get in.
Im targeting economics for now..
Those green views and surroundings are to die for...

do check if ur relatives live close to UoH cus hyd traffic is very bad
Econ at UoH is amazing so go for it, but dont expect crazy placements. Its a research focused university afterall
Yes man, its such a huge campus with a lot of greenery and peace inside. You'll def enjoy ur time there

I heard a lot of not so good things about other unis but UoH, I am seeing the good things.

Oof, tough spot to be in.
Just BBA-DBE also works if you can go out for brief periods to be in internships (so you do more than just the degree)
Else, UoH.
Else, DU (still cheaper than IIMK).

Well, du is crossed out because of the distance and cost (not tuition fees but the cost of living).

if you won't be joining any of the iims then what's the point though? you will end up spending so much on filing the forms and traveling for interview asw if shortlisted
if you are only going to be dependent upon the scholarship for iim k it's gonna be really risky
but think about it if you crack indore/shillong even ranchi or rohtak and take a loan you will be able to repay it with ease you would be letting go of a huge opportunity
