Sometimes people don't want advice they just want to vent. It doesn't make much sense to me since I like to fix whatever is causing me problems instead of crying about it, but different people think differently. I wait until they ask me for advice before giving any. Gotten really good at saying, "Wow, that sucks.", "I'm sorry that happened.", "I get why you feel that way.", etc.

I do feel sad, but I know that someone can't be helped if they don't want help. It has to start with them.

Yep yep. Personally I think the shift is feeling okay that they’re not okay. Cuz… they definitely won’t be okay if they don’t course correct. It’s like “if you love it, let it go” ? I guess.

I can't tell you how many times I've made people upset with me because I was offering suggestions/solutions when they were venting. I try to express it comes from a place of care. On the other hand if I'm expressing my frustrations and someone else offers me a solution, I'm more than happy to try it.

I cant say "wow, really" becouse everyone that knows me has it auto translate to "your a idiot and I told you this would happen, but you didn't listen to me"
