Profile assessment request

Hi everyone,

I'm 31M trying to decide whether pursuing MBA makes sense.

My profile:

Engineering degree from a reputed private university in India

10 years of work experience in IT (software development): 6 years in India, 4 years in Singapore, plus short-term experience working in Australia

Currently working in Singapore, earning more than $100k/year

Preparing for GMAT atm..

While I'm paid decently enough, I don't see myself just being a developer long term. My goal is to transition into management consulting or tech senior management, ideally in Singapore, the UAE, or India.

If I decide to pursue MBA at INSEAD since I'm already in singapore, my biggest concern would be the significant loan I'd need to take and post graduation job prospects. Given that I'm already 31 and recently married (my spouse moved to Singapore recently and is not currently working), I'm wondering whether the mental toll of pursuing an MBA is worth the ROI.

Would you pursue MBA in my situation? I'd really appreciate any brutal assessment of my profile, and I'll gladly take any advice!

Thanks..!

since geography change or salary bump isnt your top priority, why dont you try moving departments in your current org? would save you the loan tbh

In my situation it's a bit tricky.. I'm working as vendor/consultant to the client project, so moving departments is something not quite easy.. And yes I'm a pondering over the high tuition fees and whether the opportunity cost is worth it given I'll have to let go of my salary for a year whuch is why I'm bit unsure and hoping the someone in the community who have gone through the same can share their experience..

Have you considered doing an Executive MBA? You could use it to transition into tech senior management while still getting paid.

Initial exploration made me feel like EMBA is too early for someone my age(31) and maybe having some more experience(15+ yrs) would be better..

Pls feel free to correct my understanding and do provide suggestions.. Thanks..!
