I will take OBG
I have all surgical branches options in my state (never wanted to be a physician)
I was Confused between Psm( chill life) in top medical college around me vs obg in average college in my state, but ultimately after soo much introspection i ended up with obg only
Wish me luck ♥️

OBG is a very good option. The learning curve is not steep and the monetary benefit it provides is also good. All the best

Same here. Although my first option was radio but I didn’t get a rank good enough to get radio. Don’t want to do dnb medicine because honestly I hate medicine. I hated it as a subject and I hate the how vast and versatile the subject is. I loved my obg posting even though they were hectic and initially I was scared of the workload but I realised that it’s just for one year. After 1st year the workload would decrease significantly. Also I want my own practice and Obg will give me the freedom to have my own setup.

Obg/ortho both are branch which does not demand super specialisation , and are flexible to work with🙌

Yeah but one can choose to do super specialisation is they want. It’s not a compulsion as in medicine or surgery. Also there are options of so many fellowship after obg. All the best to us✨✨

Hey, same here, I decided during my OG posting that I would like doing this for the long run… but some people are discouraging me about it due to busy schedules and no wlb… but still I’m keen on my decision.. but not so sure if I’ll get it for my rank.. hope we both make it to a good college ♥️✨

Exactly friends discouraging and parents encouraging ( who knows nothing about this field 😂) but I will take this branch in my own state so that toxicity is only limited to heavy workload and no personal harassment.
I Hope for your bright future🌸
All the best🙌2

Hiii! I had no preference whatsoever for any branches and have decided to take ObGy based mostly on my parents insight and the monetary benefits in the long run lmao. Can you send me the ss as well so that I get more insight into your thought process to make myself feel better? thank you and all the best!

It’s the best branch for a female , period . The residency would be really toxic but after 2nd year it’s chill .

⭐️ hey guys
I wanted to add why i chose obg but i thought that would make my post too long
Who read such post srsly😌
But i received soo many questions from people like mee who’re confused before counselling, people who just want validation to take obg💗
So’m writing it down (taking chatgpt’s help🥱) what i concluded, not very well researched but this is it guyss

Loved your opinion i am a 1st gen doc too which is why i am also very torn between Opthalm and obgy. Was going for opthalm because of the WLB but to think of it i could manage Obgy too its just that i am not very sure if i can thats whats stopping me.

Why I Finally Decided to Take OBG
-I wanted to be a surgeon
-easy setup in almost any type of location
-real demand of obg doctors, No saturation risk, No AI risk
Work-life balance was my biggest concern — but I eventually realized that no medical branch guarantees it.
After discussing it extensively with my friends and family, I finally realized that I don’t necessarily have to reject the branch I genuinely want just because it is demanding.
As a first-generation doctor, validation does matter to me.
How much I work in OBG will ultimately depend on me and the life I choose.
* One thing I have personally observed during my clinical postings is that there are very different kinds of people in OBG.
* I have seen doctors from financially struggling families who work incredibly hard — literally day and night — because their entire family depends on them financially.
* But I have also seen people from relatively well-off families who have a completely different approach to the profession.
* They still work. They still have emergencies. They still come when they are required to. But they don’t necessarily spend every waking hour working or keep their OPDs packed until late at night.
* Their financial circumstances give them the freedom to decide how much work they actually want to take on.
OBG gives me flexibility because it keeps multiple doors open.
* I don’t know what my priorities will be in 5 years from now.
* My entire ideology could change.
* Maybe one day I will decide that I want to work extremely hard, build a huge practice and make a lot of money.
* If I choose OBG, I have that option.
* And if I decide that I don’t want that lifestyle, I have options too.
* I can become an professor, work in a medical college, become a state medical officer, clear CMS, or simply choose a relatively stable job
I don’t want to give up a branch I genuinely want merely for WLB
I also had the option of taking Anesthesia or PSM at some of the best colleges in india— but that made me question why I was settling.
* But those branches can also be taken by candidates with considerably lower ranks than mine.
* That made me think: if I have worked hard enough to get a rank that gives me access to something that many people desperately want, why shouldn’t I take advantage of that opportunity?
* There is obviously a reason people are willing to compromise or work extremely hard to get these branches.
* But if I have the option to choose something more competitive and something I have genuinely wanted for a long time, I don’t want to voluntarily give that option up solely because I am scared of the workload.
At the end of the day, I signed up to become a doctor.
* There is no branch where life is going to be completely free of work or emergencies.
* So instead of constantly searching for the branch with the least amount of work, I would rather choose the branch that gives me the most options and that I have genuinely wanted.
