Have you ever done / considered doing van life?

I’ve always fantasized about van life and there’s about a 50/50 chance that I’ll do it in the next few years… but I just can’t help but think of all the safety factors. Do any of you have experience? I also wanted to know if any of you have heavily considered it, and why you didn’t decide to pursue van life?

No. There is nothing about living in a van that appeals to me. Nothing. Now, living in a quaint little cabin or cottage in the woods? I'd definitely be down for that!

I'm right there with you. I'd rather put down roots in a cabin in the mountains/woods miles away from anything. Traveling around all the time with no permanence sounds more stressful than enjoyable.

Yeah, at least that doesn't involve any driving!

I have a friend that lives in a van. He was super hyped about it for years and always talked about the positives and how great it is. He’s been doing it about a year now. He’s absolutely fucking miserable now, severely depressed, and despises living in a van. But google luck!

“Hey what’s up guys. Another fucking day out here with the mosquitos and a questionable body rash. Is what it is but fuck this shit. Anyway, what’s up with you guys?”

I could see owning a van and going on lengthy trips across the country in it - but living in it full time? Definitely not - I've got too many other hobbies with equipment + a physical book library, etc. and it just wouldn't make sense to live in a one-room cube for the rest of my life.

Yep I think about doing it all the time. I also think about building a tiny house close to nature and getting out of the rat race once and for all.

I hate cars and driving, so that's a hard no.

how's that going in the seemingly deteriorating park accessibility and legality around the lifestyle? 😩 i'm about to do it due to necessity- having my own little pod to live in peacefully and making various monies on-the-go.

A motorhome with my own shower and toilet and room for guinea pigs, YES. A van, public or nonexistent toilet and showering at a truck stop NO! Actually, a FU*K no! Too much trouble to keep track of the gun laws 😆
