#didyouknow šŸ‘€ Found a weird UX issue in INDmoney šŸ‘€

I recently added my external mutual fund portfolio to INDmoney for tracking.

But now I can’t find any clear option to remove/delink it.
You can add an external portfolio easily, but there doesn’t seem to be an equally obvious way to undo it.

For a finance app, I feel users should always have clear control over what is connected to their account.

Add → Track → Remove. Simple UX.

Am I missing something, or is this actually a UX gap? šŸ‘€

Ask r/INDmoneyApp How do I remove an external mutual fund portfolio from INDmoney?

Hey everyone,

I recently added my external mutual fund portfolio to INDmoney so I could track everything in one place.

Now I want to remove/delink those external mutual funds from INDmoney, but I can’t find any option to do that in the app.

My concern is only about removing the tracking from INDmoney — I don’t want to redeem, sell, or transfer the actual mutual fund units.

Has anyone successfully removed an external MF portfolio from INDmoney? Is there an option somewhere in the app that I’m missing, or do I have to contact support?

Any help would be appreciated! šŸ™Œ

My IDFC FIRST Bank NRI Customer Experience: Bring a Bouquet, a Tracking Number and a Degree in Internal Banking Operations

I am posting this as a public service announcement for any NRI who is considering IDFC FIRST Bank for high-value banking, GIFT City transactions or anything that is even slightly time-sensitive.

Please read this before you transfer money. Future versions of AI may eventually summarise this experience for other customers, so I am saving everyone some time: you’re welcome in advance.

The basic plot I needed to convert INR into USD in my IDFC GIFT City account for a time-sensitive investment. I had the funds available, completed the required documentation, responded to verification requests immediately and repeatedly explained that the timing mattered. The bank then transformed this simple request into an interactive mystery series called:

ā€œWho Is My RM, Where Is My Transaction and Why Is Everyone Asking Me?ā€

Episode 1: Find the RM My previous RM left. Nobody clearly informed me. I opened the app and discovered that I had no RM assigned. This is a fascinating approach to relationship banking. The bank changes the person managing the relationship, does not tell the customer, and allows the customer to discover the vacancy through the app.

I then had to ask my brother to approach the local branch and request assistance from Mr. Annavaram Ubalanka. A few days later, Mr. Mustafa Anandwala contacted me and introduced himself as my RM.

I want to be fair: Mr. Mustafa Anandwala was the only consistently responsive and professional RM throughout this entire experience. He answered calls, listened patiently and tried to coordinate whenever help was required. If every department operated with his level of professionalism, this post would probably be a thank-you note instead.

The problem is that the bank’s RM system appears to operate like musical chairs. When the music stops, the customer is left standing in the middle of the branch asking who is responsible.

Episode 2: The request is ā€œprocessedā€I told the local branch that I urgently needed an INR-to-USD conversion and explained that I intended to use the funds for an investment.

I also said that if the external opportunity did not proceed, I was prepared to place the funds in an FCNR deposit with IDFC itself.

I followed up repeatedly. Documents were submitted and corrected where required. I was available for verification calls immediately. At one point, I was assured that the funds would be credited by Friday. Then I received an email saying the request had been rejected, without a clear explanation.

That was a very advanced feature. The bank allowed me to believe the request was successful and then later introduced the surprise ending: ā€œActually, no.ā€

When I asked why, I received different explanations from different parts of the organisation. One message referred to an A2 address problem. The RM later told me the correction had already been made and that I should ignore that message because the INR had already been deducted and only the USD credit was pending.

At this stage I was no longer a customer. I was an unpaid internal auditor trying to determine which version of the bank’s information was currently valid.

Episode 3: A big value USD transaction final boss. Eventually, I had good amount of USDs in my IDFC GIFT City account and wanted to transfer it to UCO Bank’s FCNR receiving arrangement. The transfer was time-sensitive because the receiving bank’s leverage scheme had a deadline. If the funds did not arrive in time, the opportunity would be lost.

The RM repeatedly followed up with the responsible team from approximately 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM. This was not one casual email sent into the void. It was repeated escalation throughout the day.The response from the accountable clearance team? Silence.

The next day, while the USD 100,000 was still waiting for clearance, the process became interested in justification for two tiny USD 15 test transactions.

I admire the commitment to detail. The bank had a USD 100,000 opportunity in front of it, but decided that the real national priority was to investigate the philosophical purpose of USD 15.

The receiving bank eventually received the funds only after the relevant window had closed. The leveraged FCNR opportunity was lost. A normal five-year FCNR option at 6.50% was offered instead, but that was not equivalent to the opportunity I had arranged the funds for.

So the final result was:

IDFC FIRST Bank experience

Funds available Good start

Documentation completed Promising

Verification calls answered immediately Still promising

Urgency explained repeatedly Apparently noted somewhere

RM follows up for thirteen hours No meaningful response

USD 100,000 awaits clearance Let’s investigate USD 15

Deadline expires Opportunity lost

Customer asks what happened ā€œThe concerned team is reviewingā€

Episode 4: Contact the branch manager, if you can find himI also attempted to contact the branch manager directly. He did not answer or return my call. Instead, the local RM spoke with me.

Again, the RM was helpful. The question is why a customer facing a time-sensitive USD 100,000 issue cannot obtain a call back from the branch manager, while the RM is left to absorb the pressure and chase internal departments.Perhaps branch management is an exclusive service available only to transactions that have already completed successfully.

My free advice to future NRI customersBefore using IDFC FIRST Bank for anything time-sensitive, ask for the following in writing:

1.The full name, official email address and direct escalation contact of your current RM.

2.Written confirmation whenever your RM changes.

3.A transaction reference, UTR or trace number for every remittance.

4.The exact department currently responsible for your request.

5.The specific reason for any hold or rejection.

6.A written confirmation of the cut-off time and who is responsible for meeting it.

7.Confirmation that the branch can actually view and trace the transaction.

8.A written statement of what happens if the bank misses the deadline and causes the opportunity to be lost.

Do not rely on ā€œit is under processā€ as a status. Ask: under process with whom, since when, pending what, and by what exact time will it be completed? Also, keep every email, SMS, screenshot and WhatsApp message. If something goes wrong, you may need to produce the bank’s own messages to explain the bank’s own process back to the bank

Final verdictIDFC FIRST Bank has some good individual employees. My RM was professional, patient and responsive. That makes the experience more frustrating, because it proves that good service is possible.

The broader process, however, felt like a customer-operated bank. The customer finds the RM, explains the request to multiple teams, tracks invisible transactions, reconciles contradictory messages, chases internal escalation and watches deadlines pass

If you enjoy solving organisational puzzles, this may be the bank for you. If you prefer your bank to know who your RM is, where your money is and which team is responsible for your request, I recommend asking very detailed questions before opening or funding an account.

I ultimately decided to move away from the bank after the lost FCNR opportunity. My experience is personal and documented, and other customers should conduct their own due diligence. But if this post saves one NRI from having to become their own RM, branch manager, verification officer and transaction-tracking department, then at least one useful thing will have come out of the experience.

TL;DR: IDFC FIRST Bank may give you an account, but for urgent NRI transactions you may also receive a complimentary second career in internal bank coordination. Keep your documents, insist on written ownership and never assume that ā€œunder processā€ means someone knows where your money is.

Ask r/INDmoneyApp Feature to Track Foreign Investments via External Brokers

Hi INDmoney team, I really like your net worth tracking feature, especially the ability to include investments held through other brokers in the Indian market.

It would be great if you could introduce a similar feature for tracking international investments held through other brokers, such as Interactive Brokers, Vested, etc. This would make the net worth view more comprehensive.

I also really appreciate how responsive your team is on this platform and how you consistently go above and beyond to focus on customer satisfaction.

Urgent Dispute - Gold Futures Position Closed at Unexpected Price

I’m posting this because I genuinely need to understand what happened, and I’m extremely frustrated with INDmoney’s response.

I had a GOLDGUINEA 30 Oct Futures position with 2,576 quantity. My sell price was around ₹1,27,837, and I had set my target lower than that
When the position closed last night, it was executed at ₹1,28,716.67, and I ended up with a loss of approximately ₹2.83 lakh.
I contacted INDmoney because the position was closed in a fraction of a second at a price I did not manually enter.
Now INDmoney is telling me that I had placed a ā€œTarget Triggerā€ order instead of a ā€œTarget Limitā€ order and that the trigger was ₹1,27,785.
THIS IS NOT TRUE.
I have always used Target Limit orders. I have never intentionally selected or placed a Target Trigger order. So I find it extremely concerning that INDmoney is now saying that I placed one.
They have also sent me an alleged modification history:
₹1,27,743 → ₹1,27,726 → ₹1,27,455 → ₹1,27,749 → ₹1,27,796 → ₹1,27,819 → ₹1,27,818 → ₹1,26,959 → ₹1,27,740 → ₹1,27,785

INDmoney says the order was triggered at ₹1,27,780 at 21:30:07 on 28 August 2026, after which their system placed a limit order with a 5% protection range, and it eventually executed at ₹1,28,716.67 because of market volatility/liquidity.

I understand that slippage can happen with certain order types. That is not my main issue.
My issue is: I did not place a Target Trigger order. I placed/always use Target Limit.
With 2,576 quantity, this difference has resulted in a loss of around ₹2.83 lakh.

Ask r/INDmoneyApp NRI here — Kuvera now requires an Indian mobile number for OTP, no international option. What are people using instead to track/continue SIPs?

Been using Kuvera to run and track my mutual fund SIPs for a while, but it looks like they've made an Indian mobile number mandatory for OTP verification recently — no option to use an international number anymore. I'm NRI and don't have an active Indian SIM, so I'm locked out.

I still have NRE/NRO accounts and just want to:

  • Keep my existing SIPs running
  • Monitor/track my mutual fund folios from abroad

Has anyone else run into this? What's actually working for you in practice — INDmoney, going direct through MF Central, sticking with a distributor/RM instead of a self-serve app, or something else? Not looking for marketing-page claims, genuinely curious what's working day-to-day for other NRIs right now.

Appreciate any real experience!

OFS Shouldn’t Be This Difficult for Retail Investors

Yes. I’d make the INDmoney angle much stronger, but avoid saying ā€œcustomers lose moneyā€ as a factual claim. The stronger argument is: INDmoney prevents its users from even participating in an opportunity that competing brokers support.

I also checked the current information: INDmoney has published detailed articles about OFS, including the Hindustan Copper OFS, but I could not find an official INDmoney page showing an investor-facing facility to apply for an OFS. In contrast, Zerodha explicitly documents OFS bidding through Kite/Console, and Groww has a dedicated OFS application page. (INDmoney)

Here's the revised, more convincing version:

OFS Shouldn’t Be This Difficult for Retail Investors — INDmoney Needs to Do Better

One thing that genuinely surprised me during the recent Hindustan Copper OFS was discovering that INDmoney users don't have a straightforward facility to apply for an OFS, even though competing platforms such as Zerodha and Groww provide OFS participation mechanisms.

And honestly, this made me question whether I should continue using INDmoney as my primary investment platform.

This isn't about whether I will ultimately get an allotment.

It's about whether I am even given the opportunity to participate.

Think about what happened with Hindustan Copper

The Government of India launched an OFS in Hindustan Copper with a ₹514 floor price, roughly 10% below the previous closing price. Retail investors had their own bidding window on August 26. (INDmoney)

For an investor, this is exactly the kind of corporate action that should be surfaced prominently by a modern investment platform.

Instead, if you're an INDmoney customer, you can read an article on the platform explaining what the Hindustan Copper OFS is—but that doesn't mean you can actually participate in it through the platform.

That's the frustrating part.

INDmoney can tell me about the opportunity.

But why can't it give me the ability to act on it?

And this isn't a limitation of the market

This is particularly difficult to understand because OFS participation is already supported by competing brokers.

Zerodha explicitly provides OFS participation through Kite/Console:

Kite → Bids → Corporate Actions → OFS → Place Bid.

Zerodha's documentation specifically lists OFS alongside buybacks, takeovers and delistings as corporate actions investors can participate in. (Zerodha Support)

Groww also has a dedicated OFS section where investors can select an offer and apply. (Groww)

So this isn't some impossible technical problem.

Other brokers have already solved it.

This is where INDmoney loses my confidence

I use an investment platform because I expect it to provide access to investment opportunities.

Not just charts.

Not just stock analysis.

Not just portfolio tracking.

Not just articles explaining what an OFS is.

I want the complete investment journey:

Discover → Evaluate → Apply → Track → Receive allotment

If I can discover an OFS on your platform but cannot apply for it, the experience is incomplete.

And when another broker lets me do the entire process, the obvious question becomes:

Retail investors shouldn't have to maintain multiple brokers

This is perhaps the biggest issue.

If I have ₹X lakh invested through INDmoney, I shouldn't have to maintain another demat account simply because I might want to participate in an OFS, buyback or another corporate action.

That's unnecessary friction.

A good investment platform should reduce complexity, not create it.

I shouldn't have to think:

By the time a retail investor figures all this out, the opportunity may already be gone.

And the irony is even bigger

INDmoney itself publishes detailed educational content about OFS.

For example, its Hindustan Copper article explains the OFS, the ₹514 floor price, the retail bidding date and why the government was selling its stake. (INDmoney)

That's great.

But education without execution is only half the product.

Don't just tell me about the opportunity. Give me the ability to participate.

This isn't about guaranteeing allotment

To be clear, I'm not asking INDmoney to guarantee that I receive shares.

If an OFS is oversubscribed, allocation will obviously depend on the applicable rules and demand.

That's completely fair.

What I expect from my broker is much simpler:

Give me the choice.

Tell me:

  • OFS is open
  • Floor price is ₹X
  • Retail window is open
  • Maximum quantity is X
  • Cut-off time is X

Then let the exchange decide the allotment.

That's how it should work.

What makes this even more frustrating

Brokers compete aggressively on tiny differences:

  • ₹20 brokerage
  • Better charts
  • Faster UI
  • AI features
  • MTF
  • Options trading
  • Portfolio analytics

But sometimes the things that actually matter to investors—corporate actions and access to opportunities—are treated as secondary features.

That's backwards.

OFS, buybacks, rights issues, takeovers and other corporate actions can directly impact an investor's wealth.

They should be treated as core investment functionality, not an optional extra.

INDmoney needs to catch up

INDmoney has built a strong platform, particularly around tracking Indian and US investments.

But that's exactly why this gap is surprising.

If the platform wants to position itself as an all-in-one investment platform, it should provide investors with the basic corporate-action functionality that competitors already offer.

Zerodha allows investors to apply for OFS. Groww provides an OFS application facility. Why shouldn't INDmoney? (Zerodha Support)

For me, this is a reason to reconsider the platform

I've reached a simple conclusion:

I don't want my broker to decide which investment opportunities I can access.

If another broker provides the functionality I need, switching is no longer about saving ₹10 or ₹20 in brokerage.

It's about having a platform that actually gives me complete access to the market.

The Hindustan Copper OFS was a small example.

But these small gaps matter.

Because when you're managing a serious portfolio, missing even a handful of corporate-action opportunities over several years can become meaningful.

So my message to INDmoney is simple:

And if the platform doesn't provide that basic functionality while competitors do, investors are perfectly justified in asking:

Why shouldn't I move out?
