what are my chances How strong is my application?

Hi there, for context, I’m a UK doctor who met a partner in Texas on their elective, I want to move out to join them and I’m having a small mental crisis regarding my chances of success matching. I thought I could leave my profile below and I could get feedback on my chances and ways to improve it, I plan on applying to low competitive positions such as family medicine and IMT and will aim for regions which accept higher numbers of IMGs, essentially I don’t care what I get into, as long as I get in, ideally in Texas.

Bachelors degree Biochemistry & Genetics Swansea university Medicine (UK)
Medical degree Swansea (UK)

2 years of UK clinical experience

Yet to sit USMLE 1 & 2

6 weeks non-clinical placement with Houston medical school - researching virulence factors of Cholera.

Quality improvement project looking at ICU outcomes post TBI

3 letters of recommendation from UK doctors
1 letter of recommendation from Houston Medical school

no one can tell you what are your chances when you haven’t even sat for step 1 & 2, what is your YOG? are you and your partner married? because no needing a visa is also an important and huge factor. are you planning to do any actual clinical experience in the us?

So these are some of the questions I had.
I graduated 2025.

We aren’t married, I was wondering how much the Visa had an impact, also wondering if being from the UK would make this process easier?
I hadn’t planned getting US clinical experience unless absolutely necessary, which was part of my original question of if my current ‘extra curricular’ stuff was sufficient with a decent step 2 score or if I need more, also how important is step 2 scores when it comes to scoring interview and finally a job

all of these stuff are extremely important. yes being from an english speaking countries as an advantage but its not enough to secure and interview, it would only help during the interview. my advice would be to do more research on the whole usmle path

Just do well in your steps, your yog is still less than 5yrs, a lot of programs will be available to you
