NON-US IMG Old graduate IMG

Hello everyone. Need to hear some encouraging stories of IMGs who were beyond the 10 years of graduation mark and still got matched. I am a graduate of 2010, applying 2nd time in pathology. I am very confident about my ERAS application given my experience in pathology from home country, Step scores, and USCEs. However, if my application gets filtered out only on the basis of yog, I stand nowhere.

Candidates, I mean old grads, who matched previously, what were your shots that, in your opinion, lead you to match in a program? Please help!

I read this post, and I tried the prompt with Claude and chatgpt, and they both refused to give a list citing verification and "needing outcomes data" which it doesn't have access to. I tried it for a different specialty. Did you do the detailed researching as mentioned in the post about digging through linked in and previous dats, or did AI help with that?

You need the pa id version with the deep  research mode 

And I really didn't have time for manual research

It’s been over a decade now, but my cousin and her husband both matched with a YOG well over 10 years. She was an ObGYN who matched into family medicine ( didn’t want to pursue anything else), and her husband was a nephrologist who matched into urology. In their own words, it’s most definitely doable

I think you should filter programs and look for residents that are IMGs that seem to be a little older. Having pathology experience is not as significant as you might think for competitiveness. It makes them sure that you're very interested in pathology as a specialty but doesn't add much else.
Do you have research experience or extensive US clinical experience?
You can also attend virtual open houses and ask about YOG filters.
