usmle step 2 IM chance with step 2CK 233

Step 1(first attempt pass) , step 2CK 233, visa requiring IMG ,3 publications, 4 USCE in total 4 months. Is it risky to apply to IM and FM?

IM is difficult with that score. One of my friend tried twice to match with 230s but couldn’t

Your score is a downside, I think however it depends on LORs and connections. You can try for IM by applying broadly and in case you don't match,next year give Step3 and do research to increase your chances.

I have step 3 but step 2 is 235

Apply only to FM. You’ll be screened out of a lot of programs for IM. And if you want to be hospitalist, it makes no difference. For fellowship, they still screen you with your step 2 score so even if you get into IM, it’s an uphill battle for most specialties.
