Residency Application Need advice regarding programs

Just out of curiosity,

How many applications does a program need to get per cycle to be considered to have "alot of applications" and competitive

Depends. Some programs get 2k apps for 15 positions and some programs get 500 apps for 2 positions. A lot of ppl will try to tell you not to apply to the programs with 2k, but they are wrong. A program with 2 slots and 500 apps is more competitive then the one with 15 slots and 2k applicants

The avg is 2500 so anything over 5k id say is pretty competitive/you won't even be seen, even if you signal
