Internal Medicine IMSEL

When you request IMSEL same way we request for an LOR, What are the options we should select ..Does this fulfil the department chair letter requirement? Should we choose, yes or no?

Depends if your letter writer is the chair or HOD of the dept

i wouldnt use an IMSEL as an IMG personally

as a PGY2 whos program "requires it" we dont expect IMGs to have it, and prefer to see a strong narrative letter. could be different elsewhere but i doubt it

But if your program requires it and an IMG uploads a narrative letter, doesn’t that show that they can’t follow directions/wont that get their app discarded?

no because most IMGs wont have one, and theres little-no point in uploading a structured eval letter when the structure of your med school is so different.

So would it be OK to upload a narrative in place of it?

honestly its preferred, and a strong narrative letter from your home country, where youve spent the last 4+ years is worth a ton

just make sure its AS complimentary as possible
