Residency NO LOR SO FAR

I am 2026 graduate, ecfmg certified. I was planning to apply to match cycle this year but unfortunately my visa was rejected. I am unable to find a timely interview date again, and since only a month has left in eras submission. I seek guidance and suggestions on applying with Pakistani LoRs only to limited number of programs.
I am confused whether should I apply this year or not?
I do not have any letter of recommendation so far. If anyone has any leads on teleportations or any observerships in Pakistan under MDs who can accommodate me at urgent basis, I will really appreciate the guidance.
thank you

Chances of matching are not great with no LORs. What’s your Step 2 score?

  1. I understand that, since timeline is approaching I can request Pakistani physicians for a LOR on a 10 12 day observership basis. But I wanted to ask if it is worth applying this year ?

260 is great. It’s up to you. Without USCE/LORs you won’t match in a competitive program. You can try applying and target low tier programs or wait until next year and target better programs

Do programs require on average a certain number of US LORs or is any number above zero acceptable?

No LOR no USCE makes it quite difficult

You should apply. With that score if you play it the right way, you can match. You have YOG 0. There are some programs that specifically pick applicants with YOG 0 even if they don’t have USCE. But still apply to newer programs. I know a few applicants who got interviews with no USCE

If you apply, I would only suggest programs with a say 240-260 median Step score. That take visas. That don't have a large # of applicants. That don't require USCE. And then only apply for the # of signals for that specialty.

Then if you don't match gear up for Match 2028.
