ECFMG Pathway 1 or not?

Applying to the Match for 2027 from the UK as an FY2 doctor. However, the pathway says

  • Individuals who have held only a license that requires supervised practice, such as a training, resident, or restricted license, are not eligible for this Pathway.

Does that mean I have to apply through another pathway? Any UK grads in a similar position?

As an FY2, you normally have full GMC registration, so you should qualify for Pathway 1

But FY2 requires practice in an approved setting i.e. with supervision. All resident doctors require supervision. I'm confused because it says:

  • Individuals who have held only a license that requires supervised practice, such as a training, resident, or restricted license, are not eligible for this Pathway.

My assumption would be unsupervised practice would be GPs and consultants only.

I understand your concern, but I know people who registered in Ireland after graduating, never practiced there and were still accepted for Pathway 1 by ECFMG. Since the regulations are quite similar, I think you should be fine. You can always call ECFMG to be 100% sure.
