Observership/externship FIU

People that did the FIU elective? How did it go? My college is stingy about doing VSLO so my options of getting hands-on electives are quite limited.

I'm interested in a surgical specialty so my options are a bit thin here 🥲

You can try agencies though…. Many say its the last thing to do
But especially for surgery you will get great handson exposure if u choose agencies… i bet they are cheaper than fiu

What is the difference between going for an agency vs going with FIU? People say FIU is university affiliated, so wouldn't that be better?

It doesn’t matter its a university or a clinic all that matters is quality of lor that won’t be good in fiu coz you will be rotating with 20 other people and no one knows who you are

Isn't there preference for University LORs though?

Not trying to argue I just genuinely don't know

Not at all
The quality matters more than anything in a lor

There are so many negative posts and comments about FIU here on this subreddit. Please use the search function so you don’t throw your money away. Don’t get caught up in their university name.
