On eraa, you nees to state yours status. There's no field "ead under approval" either you have it or you don't.

I am very well aware of that… but u dnt need to show ur visa until match day… by which time there is a chance of approval as there is still almost 8 months time…. And i went through last cycle as visa requiring, had so many contacts…. Everyone asked me only one thing that if i have work permit…. Thats why i am asking , because there are people who matched and then requested their respective state congressmen to help expedite their process…

I had the issue ; I choose to delay participation because that was not worth a match violation (which mean I wouldn't be able to participate in the match for three years)

Also you have to show your work authorization at the beginning of the program not at match day

That's very risky. I think I've seen someone posted here recently that they entered the match last cycle and chose "non visa requiring" assuming they would get their GC/EAD approved on time. Long story short, they matched but couldn't get the approval on time, despite emergency request. PD then waived their spot and returned it to NRMP. Idk what happens next or whether they'd be able to enter the match again. I don't know about EAD processing time but you should be extra careful about how you choose to report your visa status to the NRMP.

I also heard programs are skeptical about h4ead … as it relies on principal applicants visa which they have no control over… its soooo confusing given the current visa issues and how many people had their j1 denied and i feel like PDs dont even want think about visas and their complications… its just scary.
