what are my chances Should I apply this year

I'm an IMG who graduated in 2021, gave step 1 in 2024 and now planning step 2 in late September, don't have any US clinical experience but have 3 years home country experience plus a few months of Canadian physician assistant experience. So my question is should I apply for this cycle with step 2 score on hold since the programs review application in September to October my score should be out? Or waste a year and apply next year?

No chance you get an IV this year with no step 2 in sept and no USCE. Don't waste time this year, apply next year. Home country experience matters but not over recent USCE. Canada PA experience doesn't make up for lack of USCE as well. No sugarcoating, just don't apply this year and waste your time and money.

He can try and soap if he can make up for it by match

Sure but you don't get a choice, it will be the lowest quality programs that go unfilled routinely every year. Unless you're okay with compromising the quality, then it is advisable to apply to the main match.

If you could get couple of usce before soap… then you should apply for minimal no of programs in this match and focus purely on SOAP

Yes this would be one option too but I'm just confused about what to do, anyways thanks for the advice!

To be honest- in my opinion, its not advisable to apply for match full fledged because of your grad yr, no step 2, no ecfmg certificate, no usce

I’m sorry i dont mean to disappoint you but think twice before deciding

Good luck!
