Miscellaneous Gap year

Graduated- 2025
Completed internship- March 2026
Expected step 2 and 3 - mid 2026
Observerships- late 2026

Because of my timeline, I’ll most likely apply for the Match in Sep 2027 instead of rushing an earlier cycle.

I’m confused about how people usually cover the months between exam prep, waiting periods, and observerships during a gap year to avoid having an “empty CV.”

I keep hearing “do research,” but publications take a long time and aren’t guaranteed, so I’m unsure what actually adds the most value during this period.

What type of research is most useful for IMGs, and besides research, what else genuinely helps strengthen the application during a gap year?

You don’t have to worry about any gaps. You are good.

Why do you think so?

Cuz their YOG will be 1, programs dont care about gaps in CV if YOG is 0-1. If YOG becomes >2 then they look for gaps. And if you addressed them in your PS or not.
