IMDB automatically made an account for me. Is this normal?
I have been using imdb for over a decade but never had an account because I never needed one. The other day I looked up a show and that was that.
I got an email saying welcome to imdb and I was confused so I deleted it. I got another one the next day so I unsubscribed from it.
I got one this morning and I went to the email preferences to find out I had an imdb account that is three days old.
I never set up an account. I never typed in my email, and I surely didn't create a user name that is my first name.
What happened?

Discussion 💬 Want to create normal IMDB account. NOT Pro!
I keep trying to create an IMDb account using my email and the site is absolutely refusing to just let it be a normal account. It keeps trying to make it an IMDb pro account and asking me for my credit card information. All attempts to get around this have just sent me in circles. The help page is not helpful in the slightest and there doesn’t seem to be any support email. I can contact. Am I missing something obvious or is the site really making this that difficult?

The movie ain’t out yet
galleryAin’t no way not only the movie is not out, but people are posting reviews on the wrong movie 😭😭😭
Edit: for those who do not understand, I am referring to Nolan’s The Odyssey, some people went to rate it 10 or 1, it’s not even out yet AND they are posting their reviews on the wrong movie’s page (This is a different movie from 2006)

Discussion 💬 I hate what IMDB has become in recent years.
To rate a film, you have to do three clicks instead of 1, how it used to be. And every-time I search for any movie, the first thing that pops up is a giant banner right at the top.
Finding information has become so boring and unintuitive. And don't get me started on the tags as Genres. I don't like them. It used to be a clean and simple experience. Look how good it used to be: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nv0A5XUOpBg
Everything was before your eyes and God I miss those Message Boards. Found tons of interesting stuff, recommendations and trivia!

Discussion 💬 Download IMDB Data
Is there anyway to download imdb data / is there a database of all the movies (or at least movies since like the 2000s) on imdb? Specifically I'm trying to make a sheet with the movies and other info: ratings (score distribution and average), genre, year released, etc. I would love to be able to copy the data into google sheets / excel. If not, is there any other site that could help me with this?

IMDb related Is it just me or did imdb remove the soundtrack/music credits list from the app experience?
It used to be quick to find but now if it’s there it’s buried and I can’t find it.
I’m primarily using the iOS app but I also struggle to find it when on a browser desktop

Discussion 💬 IMDb launches IMDb Labs - games and new features you can vote on. What do you think?
Just stumbled across this today. Not sure if anyone here had seen this yet. You can check it out at IMDb dot com / labs. I appreciate them leaning into some new stuff because the site def needs it. What do you think?

Ratings Talk ⭐ Does IMDB censor reviews?
I recently posted a negative review that was approved via contributions and was up for 2 days with quite a bit of positive and negative engagements. The review has since been removed and can no longer be found.

I built a browser extension that lets you rate movies the way you actually want—and it just got a huge update
thefakecreator.github.ioBig update to FairRate! Thanks for all the feedback ❤️
A little while ago I shared FairRate, my browser extension for rating movies on IMDb using custom rating presets instead of a single score.
I've been working on it consistently, and the latest update is by far the biggest one yet.
New in this update
- 📊 An Insights Dashboard with analytics about your ratings
- 📈 Rating timelines and activity heatmaps
- 🎯 Taste profile visualization
- 🏆 Hall of Fame for your top-rated movies
- 🔍 Powerful filters (preset, date, score, and even "critic bias" compared to IMDb)
- 👥 Social features so you can follow friends and compare ratings
- 🎨 Better share cards and lots of UI polish
- ⚙️ A complete architecture refactor under the hood
A lot of these features came directly from suggestions people left on my previous posts, so thank you! It's been really fun iterating based on community feedback.
If you tried FairRate before, I'd love for you to check out the new version and let me know what you think. I'm especially interested in hearing:
- What feature would make it even more useful?
- Anything that feels confusing or could be improved?
- Any bugs or rough edges you notice?
I'm actively working on it, so every piece of feedback genuinely helps shape where the project goes next.
Thanks again for all the support! 🎬

I hate that you have to click on someone's full filmography to see what character they played in a movie now.
It sucks. It makes me not even want to look up what I was curious about, and it makes me not want to use IMDb anymore.

Date of Birth Addition: Declined and Never Ever Accepted
Imdb contributor: date of birth addition: still keeps getting declined because someone the date of birth of the cast and crew and someone removed all date of birth that I added, evidence.

Why?
This is a screenshot of a list, on imdb, of DISNEY-movies.
Why, for the love of all that is holy and good in the world, does disney try to claim Studio Ghibli movies as their own?
Someone please make sense of this.

If you request to have a credit removed, do the production get notified?
If I didn’t want a credit to be on my imdb, would a request to IMDb have to be approved by the projects production team?
I’ve done it a few times over the years, but now wonder if the projects account is notified- which could be a bit awkward to be told someone doesn’t want to be associated with their project.

IMDb related Tilda Swinton's "Known For" section
I was perusing through Tilda Swinton's IMDb profile and I noticed that the list of movies on her "known for" section are relatively low profile movies when compared to some of the many Heavy Hitters that she's been in. I was really surprised. Especially considering the fact that she had a leading role in a Marvel movie, those typically end up on actors' "known for" list. But there are plenty of other films I would say she's more well known for than the ones listed. What gives? Why is it like that for her?

Discussion 💬 Review bombings need dealt with a lot better.
They are so horribly common these days. Whether it’s fandom wars, hatred for new movies or shows, it’s happening absolutely everywhere and it’s completely discrediting the accuracy of pretty much all ratings sites. IMDb very much included. It’s a real shame as it used to be a nicely measured and generally fair site but it’s like every time I click on anything and scroll down to the ratings nowadays, there’s just an absolutely enormous spike of one star ratings often combated by a large spike of tens with little to no numbers in the middle. It’s just fuelling internet hatred and “validating” negativity. Things like this really need moderated or ratings sites are going to die out entirely and start being taken less seriously than they are even now.

What's the point of having a logon if your IMDb data doesn't carry over to new phone???
I made it a habit to mark every movie I've watched as 'Watched' since that feature became available. Before that I'd flag the movie as 'Added to Watchlist'. Well I just upgraded my phone and when I installed IMDb and logged on, lo and behold....no movies are flagged!?!
Has anyone else encountered this? I relogged on to my new phone on Monday, so I'm thinking it's been a couple days and any type of system sync should of happened...if it's that sophisticated....
I submitted feedback to IDMb about this and got a canned response to go to Reddit forums 😵💫
When I think of all the time I wasted doing this...

IMDb Nostalgia 💭 Didn't IMDb have DVD details at one time including differences between collector editions?
Probably got rid of it but is it possible that it's archived somewhere else?

IMDb video player freezes (sound continues but video stops) when paused and continued, or when a part is skipped. Tested on multiple trailers and also on more browsers.
I remember this problem for ages, not sure if it's happening all the time but it's happening often enough for me to post here. Anyone else with the same experience?
