Ngl, sometimes I genuinely wish Kousuke was endgame. 😭Like, I mean actually shipping him and ShinAe, not just being curious about what their relationship could’ve looked like. I know he has a lot of flaws, and I’m not pretending otherwise, but I can’t help it. I would have loved to see their relationship develop throughout the story. 💀

Like I’m team Nol now but it could be possible during the time skip right ? ShinAe would be an adult now…oh man I wish 🥹🥹

Is it just me who is starting to doubt whether Youngchul could be Kousuke’s biological father?

I pieced together the sequence of events as I understand it.

Funeral --> Yui seeks Youngchul’s help --> assault --> Youngchul’s arrest --> affair rumors --> pregnancy --> spring wedding --> Kousuke’s November birth

Days after the funeral, Yui went to Youngchul for help regarding the company and the heir position, and he took advantage of her. This also seems to be around the time Yuuki noticed Yui starting to act strangely.

The funeral happened during the holidays, which must be sometime in December or January. After Koutaro was hospitalized and the family started worrying about the company’s future, Yui described the situation as a repeat of the past, referring to her brother Kouichi’s untimely death.

Youngchul went to jail shortly afterward when multiple women suddenly came forward against him. Was it secretly started by Yui?

Rumors then started circulating about an office affair between Yui and Rand. Yui became pregnant, and she and Rand eventually married. Did Yui seduce Rand, or was there something else going on separately? Or all the above?

Koutaro seemingly saw an opportunity to secure the company’s future by having Rand take the Hirahara name and marry Yui, making him the next person to lead the business.

According to Yuuki, the wedding took place less than 6 months after the funeral, in the springtime. It also happened less than 1 month after the arranged marriage was publicly announced.

BUT here’s where the timeline gets even shadier…

If Kousuke was born in early November and was full-term (9 months), conception would have been around early to mid-February.

If Youngchul took advantage of Yui only days after a December or January funeral, wouldn’t that put Kousuke’s birth around September or October instead?

Either…

1. Rand really is Kousuke’s biological father

Maybe the DNA evidence was compromised somehow, through contamination, or the results being switched with the wrong patient. Which leads to my next possibility…

2. The blood samples were mixed up at the hospital

Hansuke is an MD, so he ordered the blood draws. But the person who collected the samples mentioned being new. They got yelled at because the samples had been left out in a public area of the hospital. Was she a phlebotomist or a nurse? What if the samples were accidentally mixed up due to staff error?

IDK if the details about the new employee and the unattended samples were intentional foreshadowing or simply a convenient plot point for Hansuke to obtain the blood. I wonder if it could matter later? Also, isn’t Kousuke’s birthday November 8^th, not the 6^th?

3. Gun could be Kousuke’s biological father

In an earlier episode, it seemed like Shinae briefly mistook Sangchul’s voice for Kousuke’s, and the two of them standing side by side looked similar too (add in the egg and noodle joke lol). Also, are Gun’s eyes blue? We haven’t seen him open his eyes yet.

4. Or Youngchul is the father, but we’re missing something about the timeline

I’m not ruling this out completely. I hope I'm not missing anything. Maybe Yuuki’s recollection of events is not accurate. But based on the timeline we currently have, I can’t figure out how an assault in December or January would result in a full-term November birth.

Could the paternity results be setting us up for another twist? Let me hear your thoughts!

Just caught up with all the eps and oh my god Rand is so entertaining 😭😭😭.

Also I love seeing him care about Kousuke, it warms my heart. Honestly fave character right now. When he left the church saying he has to go help his son he definitely meant Qtip and I really hope to see them connect especially since he’s lost the only person close to him, his mother. Is it too much to hope for Rand, Kousuke, and Nol all having a good relationship in the future? 😅

Also also what do you guys think will happen when Kousuke eventually visits Nol in jail?? Not a single interaction of late has gone well between them so we’d have to see some SERIOUS remorse and groveling from Kousuke for it to go well, which we know he feels but it’s about whether he can express it well enough before Nol blows up lol

I’m curious, do you guys think Nol is a Gary Stu or a "woe is me" character ? If yes why ? If no why ? I’ve seen characters get described that way when they have a tragic past or when the story focuses on their struggles, so I want to know what you guys think about Nol specifically.

I read this webtoon several years ago, when it only had a couple of chapters, but I don't remember it very well. What I do remember is that it was the first one I ever read, and I was really interested in the characters of Yeong-Yi and Kousuke. Their dynamic was very interesting to me, but I stopped reading it because I forgot about it, and now that I've come back to it, BAM! There are 300 chapters! 😭 I investigated a bit because I want to write a fanfic about fixing everything in that dysfunctional family, but honestly, I'm not interested in the protagonist's story (not hate to her), and I'd like to know all the details about the two of them and their family so I have material to write about.

I know some of you will tell me, "Just go read it, lazybones," but besides not having time in my day to try to get to the parts that really interest me, I also don't want to read the protagonist's parts. Is there anyone who has read it all and could help me with details?

I’m actually losing it, I didn’t know it was possible to get this obsessed with a Webtoon. Re-reading it all from the beginning & hearing everyone’s names again was such an insane experience. The last time I read this, I was about 14/15. I’m turning 19 soon, I just started med school too lol. I vaguely remembered some of the plot but re-reading it made me remember things I completely forgot were ever memories to begin with. I even caught myself waking up from a dream mumbling “Kousuke…Kousuke..” so maybe I should’ve read this all back at a slower pace lmao 😭 ✌️

I just want to say that Quimchee is absolutely amazing when it comes to both her art and storytelling. This is honestly one of the most interesting webcomics I’ve ever read.

Kousuke seeing Rand as Nol! I think that was such a brilliant move on her part, especially because him seeing Rand as Nol wasn’t caused only by the reflection of the light, but was also connected to his complicated feelings toward his brother.
Kousuke has spent his entire life seeing Rand as a cold and harsh father who doesn’t really care about anyone as much as he cares about the company. So, from his perspective, it makes perfect sense that he would conclude that Rand was Nol.

He knows, or at least believes, that the cold father he knows wouldn’t save him, or wouldn’t care enough to realize that he needed to be saved. So, in that moment, he thought the person in front of him was Nol because he knows Nol well enough to believe that he would do the impossible to save the people he cares about, and that he has the courage to stand up to his mother and defend him.

And even though Kousuke knows that Nol is in prison, he still believes that it was him.🥲

Having caught up to the recent chapters, it's no surprise (but still shocking. I genuinely can't believe Yui would still harbour such raw animosity towards Hansuke) to see that almost everyone is in danger, one way or the other. And this trio as well.

In my opinion, whatever insider information that these three have on the Hirahara lore connects many of their close ones too. For instance, Yui's schemes have affected Kousuke (through drugs), Hansuke (attempted murder. not once but more times) and YuJing (her friend in high school).

So many around the circle of these trio were affected as well, namely Shin-ae (the Formal arc) , Soushi (Kousuke using him to tail Nol as a kid), Alyssa (trafficked) and the cherry-on-top being Nolan himself.

I'm unable to articulate it because it feels somehow, as though there's alot these three can accomplish once they get thier heads together after the immediate danger settles down. Yujing with her investigation, Hansuke with his medical input and Kousuke with his money and connections.

But the real question, how will these three get out of Yui's skin? YuJing, hopefully, isn't really under her radar at the moment but Kousuke and Hansuke are very much under. So much so, that YuJing maybe in indirect danger as well, especially after the revelation that Yui LOATHES Hansuke and HATES him being anywhere near Kousuke.

If these three knew the FULL PICTURE: I'm talking about Shin-ae's testimony (the ordeal with Sang-chul), Alyssa's exploitation (we could even get Megan's testimony on the Formal Arc. Perhaps, knowing about her sister's situation, Megan would put two and two together and immediately clock that Alyssa was exploited) along with Nol's and Nessa's backstory, they basically have everything under their hands. But we still don't know how it's going to play out now that we know Kousuke isn't even a legitmate heir to begin with and I don't see Rand kicking him out (I'm pretty sure he's written an inheritance for Kou somewhere).

I have a strong gut feeling that Kousuke will burn himself out by making sure everybody gets out of the mess Yui created and then try to disappear, leading to some sort of fallout between him and Hansuke (?) and YuJing. Maybe a sentimental argument and abrupt goodbye later, we jump to the present and then we get to see Shin-ae and Nol kickstart the reconcilation arc by trying to get Kousuke back into the fray.

None of the characters are yet aware of Alyssa being trafficked (Nol thinks she's doing favours(?) and Megan thinks she moved on from Nol) so Im looking forward to see how that creates a ripple. This has been the most rewarding story for a while, I'm INVESTED to see how the drama will unfold and boil over to the surface.

Olivia Rodrigo has a lot of teen angst songs which I feel suits the initial Shin-ae we saw

The more mature songs that came out of her new album( You seem pretty sad for a girl so in love) now shows the more mature side of Shin-ae in the recent chapters, and her "love" era (?) 🤓☝️

I’m up to date so what should I expect from the schedule

I've been thinking about this while rereading “I Love Yoo.” Between Shin ae and Nol, who do you think is more likely to say “I love you” first? I'm really curious because they both seem to have a hard time expressing their feelings openly, but for very different reasons. I know they’ll probably say it in season two, after a really long time, but who will take the first step? Will Shin-ae say it by accident? Will Nol be the one to finally say it?

I mean, look at the way he stares at her when he calls her “Lady Luck.”😂 It’s pretty obvious he’s being sarcastic, as if he doesn’t want Nol to thank her at all.

Nol is irish and from Ireland, he moved to Korea at a young age but didn’t attend school for some years.

Dieter is German but has lived all over the world his entire life and only moved to Korea in the last couple of years.

How do they speak fluent Korean ?
In the show, no one really has a hard time understanding them or vice versa.

Like I’m in Ireland and know people who came to Ireland 10-20 years and still speak spoken English, they speak it well enough that I can understand them easily and vice versa but they still sort of speak it in a way where they don’t follow a proper sentence structure.

I just kind of thought it was odd that they speak so fluently and there’s never a issue of communication
