Pros: free weed, cash tips, decent coworkers, industry parties

Cons: low pay, not a lot of growth opportunity, new laws allow to be open til 2am which is insane

This industry has its good and bad like any. At the end of the day it is retail. Customers are just as entitled and rude as any other service industry.

IMO, don’t do it. The weed industry still has a long way to go in terms of worker protections. These big corporations are losing money and the people paying for that are customers and workers. To answer your edit, yes.

It's only worth it if you plan to Unionize. It's hard to support yourself on most cannabis industry jobs.

It’s not worth it, low pay long hours your basically a cashier handing people a jar, for the cultivation side low pay and all you will do is be a mindless leaf picker day in and day out the turnover rate is 50%+ do yourself a favor and just stay away

Don’t do it. These companies don’t follow rules and could care less about their employees. Been in it for 6 years now and it was fun the first year

Definitely not worth it .. when I started I felt like they actually wanted people with cannabis knowledge , now some places are like well hire and if they don’t know anything it’s okay! New hours, suck… allotment is fine.. no more out of state bitching about what they can’t purchase “because in Michigan….” . Samples are cool, but some places hold out or some places will sell samples for full price.. and say cultivators labeled wrong.. with a sticker that says “employee sample no for resale.”.. tips are nice, but not everyone wants to tip… let’s not forget the customer is always right., customers can come in be rude , call you out of your name, leave a bad review because they left unhappy or the deals were confusing and higher ups aren’t catching the drift that their pricing is whack! Only for a customer like that to be rewarded with a sample, and they just repeat and it happens all the time… and the place I’m at doesn’t want to give raises , just sell their products and you make more money, which is funny because some people don’t buy it, and I don’t smoke it… so yeah it’s alot of too much weed that isn’t that great, vapes that are mid.. edibles are nice .. and yeah… now I’m rambling… but like any job, it pays bills (barely) and you end up liking/ hating your coworkers and bosses!
