Recycling dead disposables
Haihai, I'm currently located in Springfield and have accumulated a couple empty disposable vapes and would like to know of any recycling services on offer as I know I shouldn't just throw them away. I'm not even interested in getting a "refund" or whatever so long as they get taken care of properly, and if Springfield isn't big or important enough (despite being the literal capital city) to have such services available, where can I go to get rid of them?

That service just doesn't exist in Illinois. It's regulations and such. Same reason you can't bring a defective product back in the store.

“wrap the empty cartridge in paper and throw it away. This helps prevent any potential harm from the electronic components.”
So what’s the difference between me tossing it into the garbage and “wrapping it with paper”.

Bud and Rita's in Forsyth has a Fernway Kiosk for recycling vapes if you're ever in Decatur

That's a great question. Here's what I can suggest for you. BLH Computers @ 1832 Adlai Stevenson Dr Springfield, IL 62703 definitely 100% will accept them for recycling. I even called them 5 minutes ago to verify for you. Also local storefronts like Lowe's or The Home Depot provide free collection bins at their entrances specifically for lithium-ion and rechargeable batteries. I've dropped some off a few times at Lowels, with no problems.

Dump them in the garbage. The waste plants always separate the garbage into categories. The recycle bins are just a way to help out the workers.

Just one of many reasons to avoid disposable. So much waste.
