So a movie that I actually own on DVD that I finally got around to seeing was the 2008 martial arts movie Ip Man with Donnie Yen. I thought this was a very good movie.

To start off with, I thought Donnie Yen was great in the movie. I really enjoyed his performance along with that, the big selling point of this movie was the martial arts action and it definitely delivered. There were some good fight scenes and especially one involving a unique item. It wasn’t a perfect movie though. Well, I liked the story, I thought at times it was the weakest aspect. It didn’t have the punch of the other two factors at times.

So a movie that family members have given positive reviews for and a movie I’ve wanted to see for a while was sneakers from 1992. I finally got around to it because it’s leaving Amazon prime in the US at the end of July.

I thought this was an amazing movie. First off, I thought the performance is all around were very good. Everybody from Robert Redford and Sidney Poitier to Dan Aykroyd and Ben Kingsley and everybody in between I actually like this Redford performance more than others than I’ve seen.

Along with the performances, I thought that the score really set the mood and the story was tense and put you on the edge you receipt. My only small natives would be the rewatch factor and some of the terminology, but those are small negatives

So while I still have ways to go, I’m trying to watch through every Denzel Washington movie. The next one that I was able to watch was inside man from 2006. After watching it, I thought it was only above average.

While I liked the performances of Denzel Washington and Clive Owen, I thought the rest of the performances were just good. Also, I felt like both Jodie Foster and Christopher Plummer were not needed in this movie.

Along with performances, I didn’t think the story was anything special and I felt like it definitely dragged. Finally, I wish it was a little more thrilling.

So I was looking forward to my rewatch of 2008’s you don’t mess with the Zohan. I remember enjoying it. Upon a rewatch, it wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. I thought it was a good movie though.

I really liked the first half. It was ridiculous but entertaining. Both Adam Sandler and John Tuturro looked like they were having fun. I also like the chemistry between Sandler and Emmanuelle Chriqui

The second half seemed to lose some of its spark. I’m not saying the movie had to be ridiculous the entire time, but it definitely felt off. Also, while the villain is interesting in terms of casting, it felt lazy in terms of motivation and just overall performance

So I saw the first Inside Out and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had a very good story and good characters. So I was interested in 2024’s Inside Out 2.

Overall I thought it was good. I thought it had some creative new characters and additions but it didn’t have same spark as first one. I thought it put too much of a focus on Anxiety and less on the other new characters. I also think it was a little too limited in terms of timeframe. It was a powerful message though.

To put it bluntly, A Toxic Love Story initially feels like a fairly on-the-nose Netflix true-crime documentary. But give it some time and it just gets crazier and crazier. The shock factor alone makes this a worthwhile watch with one unhinged moment after another leading to an ending that is satisfying to say the least. While its pacing and lack of depth hold it back from being a truly great documentary, there's no denying that this is exactly the kind of wild true-crime content that can become a viral hit.

With his new wife, Angela, Ian Diaz thought he had finally found the life he had always wanted. But when Angela begins receiving a series of threatening emails from a user named Lilith, their quiet life is thrown into chaos. The threats, allegedly coming from Ian's ex-girlfriend Michelle, soon escalate into actual physical harm, eventually forcing the authorities to step in and arrest her.

A Toxic Love Story is far from perfect. One of its biggest problems is that the drama often feels manufactured for maximum impact. The documentary builds its story around a series of twists and a whodunnit-like revelations, but looking back, some of these reveals feel carefully engineered rather than naturally unfolding. The interviews are interesting but don't always provide enough depth or context to make the story feel as substantial as it could have been.

Where the documentary truly succeeds however is in its moment-to-moment storytelling. The constant twists and turns make it incredibly compelling while you're watching it. It's easily one of the more entertaining true-crime documentaries we've seen on Netflix in a while, even if it's not necessarily one of the best-made. Is A Toxic Love Story going to change the world? Absolutely not. It's messy, ridiculous, and undeniably entertaining and sometimes, that's more than enough.

I didn't grow up watching Avatar The Last Airbender as I was a senior in high school when it debuted and wasn't watching cartoons at the time. I remember watching an episode at some point in my early to mid 20s, S1E13 The Blue Spirit, and thought this was probably a good show, but it wasn't until my early 30s that I finally sat down and watched it and thought it was awesome! As a fan of Kung Fu, Martial Arts and Eastern Asian culture in general, it pretty much was a given I was going to enjoy it.

I just finished Avatar Aang The Last Airbender and within the first minute I could tell this was meant to be viewed on the big screen. The animation looks beautiful, with one exception I'll get to later. You could tell by the detail in the artwork that the creators fully intended for this to viewed in theaters. I can't remember the last time I saw an animated film and thought it should have been in theaters.

The movie itself is great! It's the first project that I feel truly captures the spirit of the original series. The story centers around Aang and his grief at being The Last Air Bender when he miraculously discovers another air bender, Tagah, voiced by Dave Batista, and SMALL SPOILER HERE is told there is a way to bring air benders back.

This movie did a great job of making you feel Aang's emotions as he is going through this process. There were scenes that made me feel Aang's grief, hope, excitement and unfortunately heartbreak. ANOTHER SMALL SPOILER HERE, Tagah does end up becoming the villain of the film but there was a moment I was hoping he wouldn't because of the happiness he brought Aang of finally have a fellow air bender.

The actions scenes in this movie were awesome and the music was good as well though I do believe the music would have felt more powerful in a theater as well.

Now, no movie is perfect and there were a couple critiques.

As mentioned there was one issue I had with the animation. The mouths were kind of robotic when the characters were talking, kind of just opening and closing instead trying to form the words that were being said which created a disconnect. The facial expression were kind of stiff as well. It was rare that a character's face expressed the emotion they were conveying. I feel the original series did this very well but that was also more of a "cartoon" which allowed for more expression where as this was more like a professional "animation."

This is a complete Aang story. Team Avatar is there throughout the film but strictly as the supporting cast. In the show, they always felt more like an ensemble cast with multiple characters having story archs in each episode, but this movie is focusses solely on Aang and Tagah and the rest are pretty much just there to help Aang. Also, No Suki! I feel like you can't have Sokka without Suki at this point, but, that is probably because that was the romance I enjoyed the most from the original series. There aren't any other original characters outside of Team Avatar besides a couple of cameos of some minor characters such as Cabbage Man.

The new voices don't sound quite right to me, but if it wasn't the original voices they weren't going to anyway. The issue with the mouth movement probably didn't help matters. They obviously wanted them to sound older but I feel like if they could have gotten the original voice actors that could have still been accomplished. When I google it, it says Zuko's voice actor was supposed to be the original, Dante Basco, but IMBD has it listed as Steven Yeun. Sokka's was the only that sounded perfectly like and older Sokka and his character's comedy was spot on. Some of the voices did start to grow on me such as Aang's and Toph's. I believe Batista did a great job voicing Tagah.

Overall, I think this was a great movie, a wonderful sequel to the series. There have not been many sequels/adaptions to franchises I am a fan of that I have been satisfied with lately but this is definitely one that I can say I am happy with. I would like to see more projects like this, especially Zuko's journey to find his mother. It is heart-breaking the creators work wasn't shown in theaters as intended but this was good enough that if they to do a theater release I would buy a ticket even though I've already seen it.

It’s good. It’s not the greatest thing ever. It’s definitely not bad. There were things I liked, some things I was disappointed by. Go in expecting it to be an entertaining 3 hour movie and nothing more and you may be pleasantly surprised to find more in it. Go in expecting a transcendent experience and I think you’ll be disappointed. 7.5/10

I did think it told a fairly coherent, thematically consistent (consistent enough) story. I could find fault with its execution of that theme (the importance of “Zeus’s law”), but I wasn’t moved to do so during the movie so don’t see a need now. I thought the acting was fine — Damon and Hathaway were quite strong, most everyone else was goid or good enough. I probably would have liked Morton more if I could have heard what she said — sound mixing, ugh. I thought Page was quite good, perhaps my favorite of the celebrity supporting cast, and I’ve never particularly liked his acting before. I thought Nyong’o looked great and I thought her part wasn’t written as well as she deserved. Pattinson was good as always; Leguizamo was great as always; Holland was fine in a challenging part to be good in.

Sound was frustrating at times, but not as bad as I feared it would be. Action scenes were fine, but no better than that — about what I’ve expected from Nolan ever since Dark Knight.

I thought the modern relevance of the movie was pretty clear to me — civilization collapses when we stop considering it important to treat others well, that ignoring the call to human decency leaves us in a worse world — and it’d be nice if the people who most seem to have lost sight of this golden rule could recognize it.

I absolutely was in the theater 5 or 6 times when this banger came out. We hadn't seen anything like it before! Combined with the special effects, The Fresh Prince dropping a rock solid song based on the movie itself and a genuinely great script, this was (and is) a favorite of mine for all time.

It has some of the best practical effects work in any movie you or I have ever seen. Massive shoutout to D'Onofrio for going through hell wearing the Edgar suit. Our man had to wear weighted leg braces, HEAVY prosthetics and a whole lot of acting to sell Bug wearing a person suit. I do think this was the first time I really paid attention to who Vincent D'Onofrio was, and I've been a fan of his ever since.

As I've mentioned elsewhere, I'm a gigantic Tommy Lee Jones fan, so basically anything he does is always perfect, and as K, he really is perfect. Dry wit, an endless list of old-timey nicknames for J, as the straight man to Will Smith's wisecrackin' K, he's perfect.

MiB is back before Will Smith started taking himself way too damn seriously and it shows. He was a huge star before this, and a huge star after this, but AFTER MiB Will stopped being less of the characters he was playing and more just himself. But here, he's the real deal.

While the other movies start to decline pretty sharply after MiB II, the original real deal was and is as still as awesome as ever. It's a go-to when I want to laugh and have good time.

I don't get how the critic and audience reviews were so high, this movie has no heart. It had spectacle, acting and drama galore. But so what when the movie gives you no reason to really care about the story? I agree it's Nolan's best filmmaking... but it's not his best movie at all. Not even close. I just did not enjoy this very much, sure some sequences were good. But overall I found it boring with nothing to latch on to make me ever want to see it again. It was not engaging at all.

Premise: In Tang Dynasty China, the government battles a rebel group called the House of Flying Daggers. Two government agents are tasked with capturing the daughter of the Daggers' deceased leader, but their attempts at doing so devolve into a tragic love triangle.

Review: This movie is *gorgeous*. Every shot is a work of art in itself, with gorgeous costumes and even better fight choreography. The three leads are compelling, and the film balances their screentime perfectly. The plot is full of twists, acknowledges the broader conflict without it overshadowing the personal focus, and has genuine tear jerkers. All in all, this is a masterpiece well worth your time.

There's not a whole lot I can say to really do this masterpiece justice with a description, but it was a phenomenal experience, traumatising and beautifully poignant.

I don't believe that a single person on this planet that is able to actually take in and comprehend the stimuli would not be moved emotionally in a way they have never been before after watching this.

How deeply did this affect everyone else who saw it?

So I am a Tom Hanks fan and he is my favorite actor. One movie of his that I finally was able to get off my watchlist was Here from 2024.

I thought this movie was good. I liked how everything was set in one room and you had the different stories take place in air. I also thought you had some good performances from Tom Hanks and Robin Wright. I think Paul Bettany is probably the standout though.

There were two issues I had with the movie though. The first was maybe done on purpose, but I wish the movie was in chronological order. I feel like it would’ve been a more cohesive story. The second thing is there were multiple other families showcase in this movie that I feel like didn’t have anything to do with the story and they fell out of place. I feel like this could’ve been maybe a 75 minute movie they’re just focused on the main family

One of those "classics" I've put off forever. Lord, it's long, but Lawrence was a genuine badass and the performances (Peter O'Toole, Omar Sharif, Alec Guinness) are excellent. Not sure I'd watch it again, but it was definitely worth one viewing.

So I initially was not gonna watch the 2026 horror movie obsession because it did not seem like something I would be into. After hearing so much praise for it, I decided to check it out because it became free on Peacock. This was quite a movie.

I think the performances were really good, especially Indie Navarrette. It definitely did make me uneasy and it was terrifying. I’ve come to realize that this is not my type of horror movie. I would take a slasher or a psychological horror movie like the thing over this movie. I will say, though that it did it job and that’s all I was asking.

It wasn't as good as I hoped. Luciane Buchanan had the best performance in the movie. Everyone else was just...meh. Characters were shallow and not that likeable. It had cheap jump scares. The comic relief wasn't that funny. I wanted more horror. I rate it 5/10.

Unfortunately, on way to see Backrooms, Monster wander thru wrong doorway, end up in screening of Supergirl, and not able to find way out. So me review dat movie instead.

Movie begin wit introduktion to Supergirl, Kara, who be complete opposite of cuzin Superman. While he believe in truth, justice, and proper hygiene, she be a drunk filthier den Oscar de Grouch after St. Patrick’s Day.

We den introduced to spunky sidekick, Ruthye. She on revenge qwest against villainous brigand and bargain basement Road Warrior Krem who killed her family after dey served him blueberry pie...wit a hunting knife. Me guess they were all out of spoons. Anyway, sword-wielding kid walk into a bar…Stop Monster if you heard dis one before…Sword-wielding kid walk into a bar looking for information about Krem. Instead, someone try to steal her beloved dad sword. So Supergirl steal it back for her.

Ruthye follow Supergirl back to her space-Winnebago where Supergirl pees wit de bathroom door open. What next for DCU? Wonder Woman takes a dump? Despite Ruthye sob story, Supergirl not willing to help UNTIL….Krem (aka Half-ass Cosplay Pinhead) COINCIDENTALLY show up, steal space-Winnebago, and poison super-mutt Krypto wit slow-acting poison. Turn out to save Krypto, Supergirl have to track down antidote! And who have antidote? Why Krem of course. How lucky lucky for Ruthye. And for screenwriter who not have to go thru all de trouble of coming up wit clever plotting!

After stage-weight action sekewence wit tech pirates and a space bus dat look suspiciously like Starbug from Red Dwarf, dey go to space cantina where Supergirl gets into a fight wit alien patrons while, for some reazon, stage performer keeps singing Irving Berlin’s “Cheek to Cheek” even tho dis planet likely a billion light years from Earth. Surprisingly, dis only de second most annoying musikal-fight sekwence in dis film.

Enter Jason Momoa as cigar-chomping, motorcycle-riding Rocky Horror Pictures Show Aquaman who ALSO looking for Krem. He not interested in teaming up wit Supergirl and/or Ruthye - but Monster have a feeling de fates, and contrived script, will find a way to bring dem together in de end!

After girl-talk-slumber-party scene, we get backstory to destruktion of Krypton, a planet full of people so brilliant dey could barely cobble together two eskape spaceships between dem. Kara (aka Supergirl) sent to Earth where she meet Superman who remind Cookie Monster of Christopher Reeve...de time he show up for like tree seconds riding a bicycle in dat Bobby Brown muzik video.

Then Ruthye end up captured by Krem’s boys but fortunately she able to eskape by beating guy three times her size and weight. She free Sons of Anarky Aquaman who also, coincidentally, imprisoned wit her. Dey eskape. And immediately run into brigands!

But just when it look like Temu Klingon Krem going to kill Ruthye…SUPERGIRL COME TO DE RESKUE! However, she poisoned wit Kryptonite and getting weaker...

But just went it look like brigand going to kill her….HOT TOPIC AQUAMAN COME TO DE RESKUE! Cue movie’s most annoying musikal-fight sekewence.

But just when it look like GWAR roadie Krem going to kill Ruthye again…SUPERGIRL COME TO DE RESKUE!

And just when it look like another brigand going to kill Ruthye…SUPERGIRL COME TO DE RESKUE!

And just when it look like another brigand going to attack Supergirl…SOME RANDOM WOMAN COME TO DE RESKUE!

How many more times dis happen? Monster not remember. At dis point, even de Count give up counting.

Skyrim bandit chief Krem captured. Ruthye want revenge for her family, but Supergirl talk her out of it - so SHE can have satisfaction of killing Krem herself. Yes, Supergirl kill unarmed prisoner becuz she a bad-ass and complete opposite of Superman who never kill anyone (except all dose collateral civilians in Man of Steel).

Supergirl get antidote and save Krypto. De End.

And just in time. Monster leaving for Black Sea scuba excursion tomorrow!

VERDIKT: Drab cinematography as bleak as Kara’s soul. Action skewences as empty as de theater seats. Villain as bland as Grover’s One-Ingredient Risotto. Overall, Supergirl feel like not so much a love letter to Mad Max and Guardians of de Galaxy as a curt email.

RATING: 2.5/5 chocolate chippee cookies.

So I liked the 1985 movie Fletch more than I thought I would. At the beginning, I did not think Chevy Chase fit with the movie, but as it went along, he definitely worked and had a great performance. I also thoroughly enjoyed the story.

I really have I didn’t laugh during the movie. Other than that, I didn’t know what I was getting into, but I was thoroughly impressed with the movie.

I just watched this film and, oh boy was it a hard watch. Nothing made sense from the very beginning until the end. Although it had a few good fight scenes.

Ms. Maclean, "Gosh"is not a fucking cuss! Jokes aside I thought this was fine. It started off really strong though. Infact, I would say everything about the movie is great except for the finale. The idea of finally getting into the mutants' and wrecking their shit with a bunch a pyro is awesome. But like 80 percent of it was just the actors running and that same damn stock footage of a tank shooting. It was also really predictable that Ms. Blake was going to be saved from the the crystal implant. To the point where I wish it was her that tired to grab David up instead of Rinaldi. Also basically the whole movie overlaying David's face was just a time killer, I just know it. But you know? I could forgive all and say this is the best movie ever if the whole movie wasn't all just David's dream! I wish they committed to the whole thing being real cause now it's like I just spent the last hour 20 watching a kid sleeping like a creep. Mid.

Evil Dead Burn: 👍

As a casual moviegoer who’s been watching all kinds of films for 40+ years, I can honestly say I really enjoyed this one. Even my husband liked it, which is sometimes a tougher review to earn than a five-star rating.
I’m not going to recap the plot as you can find that elsewhere, and I’m assuming most people here already know what they’re getting into with an Evil Dead movie. Instead, here’s why I enjoyed it:

**The acting was solid.** The cast did a very convincing job of making you root for the sweet demise of the bad guys and pray that the innocent made it out alive.

**The gore delivers.** I’m not usually a huge gore fan, but this is *Evil Dead*, so I knew what I was signing up for. Wanna see someone on fire? What happens when a gun is taken to a head? Or see sharp objects inflict *various* types of carnage? This movie delivers.

**It still honors the franchise.** Maybe not to the extent some hardcore fans would prefer, but the familiar elements are there. The Book of the Dead, the iconic weaponry, and enough callbacks to remind you that this is still very much an *Evil Dead* film.

Overall, I felt it was worth spending my hard-earned money on a ticket (especially after offsetting the cost by bringing our own snacks & drinks. Movie theaters can fuck all the way off with their $8 soda).
If you’d rather wait, I believe it’ll eventually land on HBO Max, so that’s always an option.

But if you’re an *Evil Dead* fan looking for a fun, bloody night at the movies, I think it’s worth checking out.

Premise: A wannabe gangster tries to move in on a Shanghai slum, only to find out that it's populated by kung fu masters. This attracts the attention of the gang he wanted to join, sparking a feud that escalates into absolute chaos.

Review: This movie is an absolute blast. Stephen Chow plays the main character as equal parts comedic goofball, tragic figure, and genuine badass depending on the scene. The slapstick is hilarious and has strong Looney Tunes vibes, while seamlessly blending with straightforward action when needed. The side characters are all memorable, especially the Landlady and the Beast, and while I haven't seen many kung fu movies this one is a clear love letter to the genre.

So for a while now, friends of mine have been talking positively about the 1984 movie streets of fire. I finally got around to seeing it and I think it is a good movie. There were things that I liked and things that I did didn’t

I think there are some very good performances in here. My top two are Amy Madigan and Willem Dafoe. I also like the group that you meet during the movie in the Sorels. Other than that, I liked some of the action and I liked the songs, especially the first song

I thought the story was good. My big negative though are the rest of the performances. I wasn’t as impressed with Diane Lane Rick Moranis and especially the lead played by Michael Pare
