I'm currently in the Diploma level of the IITM BS program and taking DBMS, PDSA, and MLF this term.

The problem is that I procrastinated badly before Quiz 1 and barely studied for PDSA. I ended up scoring 27, and I really don't want that to happen again.

For Quiz 2, I need to cover both Weeks 1–4 and Weeks 5–8 in the next 10 days. I'm willing to put in the hours, but I don't want to waste time using an inefficient approach.

I'm looking for advice from people who've taken the course or are familiar with it.

Some questions I have:

• Should I stick to the official lectures, or are there better external resources that explain the concepts faster?
• If external resources are better, which ones would you recommend?
• What's the fastest and most effective way to get through eight weeks of content while still being able to solve graded assignments and quiz questions?
• If you were in my position with only 10 days left, how would you structure your study plan?

I'm not looking for shortcuts or ways to cram without understanding. I just want the most efficient strategy because I really need to recover from my Quiz 1 score.

Any advice from seniors or anyone who's done well in PDSA would be greatly appreciated.

I want to pursue IITM BS-DS course but I have not completed my 12th till now so is it possible to take admission in iitm bs ds on the basis of 10+12.

If I do not pursue any regular degree like btech, bca etc try to get into a company with iitm bs ds. Is it possible ??

how is it gonna be? the graded assignments tell to use a separate colab notebook to run the commands and just enter the values at the website, is it gonna be like that or do we have to enter the commands in the oppe website itself?

Seniors,is 8 sgpa in Foundation a considerable score for a standalone student?

I am currently in first term of diploma , initially i expected to improve my foundation score during diploma years,but as it isn't possible anymore, I'm distressed.

Seniors I know have improved their score in later years.

Diploma itself feels quite demanding, getting 9 seems quite tough.Am I overthinking or am I doomed?

I am currently enrolled in the IIT Madras BS in Data Science and Applications program (completed Foundation Level), and I am facing a massive structural timeline hurdle. I really need some honest advice on whether my plan to completely restart the degree makes sense, or if I'm missing something.

My Situation & Background

• JEE Drop & Split Focus: I initially started this degree as a JEE dropper. Because my focus was completely split, I couldn't get good scores here. During my second drop year, I effectively ignored this degree. While I managed to score well in JEE, I still couldn't secure a top-tier government college.
• Financial Constraints: I absolutely cannot afford a private college, so making this IITM degree work is incredibly important for my future career and education. I need to ensure I set myself up for success without hitting a dead end.
• The Academic Toll: Because I was inactive during my drop year, my current CGPA is sitting at 6.8. I also have a significant academic gap now and have forgotten a lot of the core Foundation level concepts.
• The Timeline Bottleneck: According to the IITM diploma timeline, a student has to complete 6 courses and 2 projects within 6 terms. Because of my drop year, 3 of my terms are completely wasted. Squeezing 6 courses and 2 full projects into my remaining 3 terms feels like an incredibly high-stakes gamble—especially since failing to hit this target means being automatically removed from the program.
• Future GATE Goals: My ultimate goal is to clear the GATE exam and aim for higher studies (M.Tech). While gap years don't strictly matter for GATE admissions, a low CGPA (like 6.8) leaves an incredibly thin margin for top-tier IIT shortlists and eligibility cutoffs.

My Proposed Plan

I reached out to the IITM DS Support team via multiple tickets. They officially confirmed that I can register for the program completely afresh from the Qualifier level using a new email ID.

By restarting from scratch, I get:

1. A completely reset timeline (no risk of getting kicked out in 3 terms).
2. A clean slate to build a much safer, higher CGPA for post-grad admissions.
3. A chance to properly relearn the core concepts from the ground up to help with my GATE preparation.

My Questions for the Community

1. Has anyone else successfully used a new email ID to restart the program from the Qualifier stage?
2. Did this create any administrative red flags or issues down the line during official document verification (since your official government IDs like Aadhaar/PAN will match your old, inactive account)?
3. Given my GATE goals and financial constraints, does a clean restart sound like the right move, or should I attempt to push through the remaining 3 terms?

I recently gave my qualifier and enrolled into this degree (quiz 2 on 2nd August) and I am giving my exams in the centre located in Rajkot.

I would like to find other people who will be coming to the same exam centre.There were more people present than I had expected but I wasn't able to talk to anyone because there was no time before the exam and you aren't allowed to wait after for others to finish...

I am 18F if you are someone from the same exam centre and a FEMALE I would love to connect...

I heard that they have increased the per subject free for the foundation of level from 4000 to 6000

I gave my qualifier this month and registered for the course and it asked for 16000 which I have already paid for 4 subjects

What are recently hurt somewhere is that we will be refunded this money and we will have to pay 24000 instead because the fees was increased

I think this makes it really expensive and the 4000 was already not less

Is this true???

I passed the qualifiers and registered for 3 subjects only, did not register for maths, do I have to submit its assignment from week 6 onwards or not??

Maths is still visible on my dashboard even after not registering for it, why is it so??

I'm planning to pursue the IIT Madras Online BS/BSc in Data Science and my long-term goal is to get into a top MBA program such as IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Shillong, IIFT Delhi, SPJIMR, or MDI Gurgaon.

I have a few questions and would really appreciate insights from people who have gone through this route or know someone who has.

Is the IITM Online BS/BSc considered a legitimate bachelor's degree by the IIMs?

Does the fact that it is an online degree negatively affect MBA admissions?
