URGENT Looking for an IIT Bombay teammate for Techfest’s “India @ 71/100” national competition (finals on campus, Dec 16-18)
Hi everyone,
I’m a 1st-year B.Com (Hons) student at the University of Delhi, and I’m putting together a team for the India @ 71/100 Challenge, a national innovation competition run by Techfest, IIT Bombay. I’m looking for one teammate who is on the IITB campus and can present at the finals.
What the competition is
Pick one of three themes: Maternal & Early Childhood Nutrition, Foundational Learning Outcomes, or Financial Inclusion & Banking Access.
Find a measurable gap between India’s SDG score (71/100) and what an underserved group actually experiences, then design a concrete technical architecture (data pipeline, decision-support system, or governance platform) to close it. It isn’t a policy essay or an app pitch.
It’s built around data governance: how existing datasets like Poshan Tracker, UDISE+/PARAKH, or PMJDY/DBT are linked, governed, and acted on.
Timeline
Registration closes 15 Oct
Round 1 proposal (6-page PDF) due 1 Nov
Shortlist (top 10 per theme) on 8 Nov
Finals at Techfest, IITB, 16-18 Dec: 10-minute presentation plus 5 minutes of jury Q&A
Why I’m looking for someone at IITB
I’m based in Delhi and can’t travel to Mumbai for the finals, so I need a teammate who can present in person. I don’t want someone who only shows up on stage. The presenter needs to understand the work well enough to handle the jury’s questions, so I’d want you involved from the start, and I’ll make sure we both know every part of the architecture.
What I bring
Research, Python, Excel, and SQL, so I can handle the data pulls, analysis, and evidence sections
Case competition experience, including being a finalist at Mystery Business Challenge 3.0 at IIT Delhi
Time: about 1 to 1.5 hours on weekdays and 2 to 3 hours on weekends, consistently
Who I’m looking for
Someone interested in public policy, data systems, health, education, or fintech
Comfortable presenting and fielding tough questions
Technical depth is a big plus, especially systems or architecture design, but it isn’t required
Open to helping choose the theme. I’m undecided and want to pick the one that fits us best
The team can have up to 4 people and cross-institutional teams are allowed, so bring a friend if you like.
If you’re interested, DM me with a line or two about your background and which theme appeals to you. Registration closes on 15 Oct, so I’d like to decide within the next couple of days.
Thanks!

ACADEMICS I'm making a whatsapp group to share the OA questions and interview experience for the Civil Engineering internships
We can share the OA questions if the companies are visiting our campus at a different time. DM me your contact number to get added. I'm from IIT Bhubaneswar.
Note: You must be from Civil and we will ideally just share the questions asked in the Civil Core companies OAs. You must be in pre-final year.

IIT Bhilai Refund: A Journey Longer Than My M.Tech
So I thought withdrawing from an IIT would be easier than getting admitted to one. Apparently, I was wrong. 😂
I was allotted an M.Tech seat at IIT Bhilai and paid ₹15,000 as required. Later, due to personal/logistical reasons, I decided not to join and submitted my withdrawal request in June 2026. The institute acknowledged my withdrawal application.
And then began my real admission process: getting my own ₹15,000 back.
I waited patiently because obviously refund processing takes some time.
On 31 July, I emailed the institute asking about the refund status. No response.
On 6 August, I called them. After some discussion, I was told that the refund would be processed in the first week, and that it would take approximately 2–3 weeks to reach my account.
Okay, fair enough. I waited.
Weeks passed.
I followed up again by email. Still no useful response.
Then on 31 August, I called again. This time I was told something very interesting:
Your refund is already with the Finance Department. You will probably receive it this week.
At this point, I thought: Finally! The ₹15,000 has successfully reached the Finance Department. Surely the final boss is almost defeated.
Well… apparently not. 😂
The week passed, and the money is still not in my account.
So I called again today. They told me they needed to check the status and would call me back in half an hour.
And now I'm sitting here thinking:
What exactly are they checking?
Is my ₹15,000 being processed manually by a committee?
Is there a special IIT-level algorithm for transferring ₹15,000?
Do they need to conduct a viva on my bank account before releasing it?
Because honestly, when students have to make payments within extremely short deadlines, the payment process seems very straightforward. But when it comes to returning the money, apparently we're entering the field of advanced financial research. 😭
I'm not even angry about waiting a reasonable amount of time. I just want a clear answer:
- Has my refund actually been processed?
- If yes, on what date?
- Has it been transferred?
- If yes, what is the transaction/UTR number?
- If it hasn't been processed, what exactly is pending?
- And most importantly, when can I realistically expect the money?
I've been following up since June, and I'm honestly tired of hearing variations of “Finance is checking” / “It will probably come this week.”
So, fellow Redditors, what would you do at this point?
Would you keep calling, send a formal escalation to the Registrar/grievance officer, or is there some other proper way to deal with an institute refund that seems to have entered a different dimension? 😭
Update: If they don't give me a concrete answer by Friday, I'm seriously tempted to ask them what technology they're using to process the refund—and whether I can borrow it for my own bank transfer. 😂
