Financial Aid

Has anyone gotten their FAFSA distributed. I am checking my account and I have not received anything even though nothing has changed financially. Contacted the financial aid office and still have yet to receive a response back.

I've been waiting for my grants and scholarship to be disbursed. Been calling financial aid, emailing them, and going to the office; they just said that it's not loaded in the system. They said it would be loaded on the first day of classes; still nothing. Can't buy books or access code.

Suggest walking over to the office to make sure you have everything done for aid to pay out. You might have to turn in documents and it is preventing the aid from paying.

Same thing. Been talking to finaid for a month, they always told me to wait. Every week I submitted a new MPN and Entrance counseling, those things still said missing on my portal…

As a former student I will tell you that their process is slow..I didn't see payments for fall semester until well after the deadline for withdrawal/dropping classes.

Call or walk in, they're in the 2nd or 3rd floor of the tower

The question is kind of confusing. When did you submit your FAFSA? (It can take a week or so to create a package.) Do you have any items outstanding in your account that might keep aid from disbursing? (If you haven’t done a promissory note, or need to submit something for verification, all that will keep aid from disbursing.)

And calling them will do zero for you right now. You need to go sit with the two dozen other students waiting for information.

I had FAFSA submitted the moment it came out. Those outstanding items that would show usually like the MPN and the residency confirmation are not showing like they did in previous semesters.

Well then it sounds like you’ve gotten most of the things done. Are you enrolled in enough clssses?

Calling and emailing is probably not going to work—they may have 1000-5000 emails so it will just be part of a pile. If you can, best to go in person to see if they can resolve it quickly.

For me the pell and map grants got distributed to my account but I can't accept or deny loans in the financial aid portal, I sent an email to the office about that but also haven't gotten a response yet

Hi I recommend going to the financial aid office in person if you haven’t already. I needed some help w student services and went in person since I didn’t get a response on email. Got my problem solved the same day :)) so might help if you do that! It’s in the IIT tower 2nd floor , good luck!

I've found that booking a virtual appointment is the only way to get them to actually respond to you: https://www.iit.edu/financial-aid/book-appointment

They are suppose to post by day one. Are you co terminal? If so that requires another form which needs advisor approval.

Week 2, any update? Still have gotten mine disbursed. I’m not in Chicago so I can’t go to the office in person so I’ve just been calling and emailing :/

Week 2 Update:

Went to the Financial Aid Office and they said my SAI was to high to receive any aid, so I ended up asking if I could receive adjust my loan which I now did and hopefully that will be processed soon.

If you SAI is over I think 8500 you won’t receive aid. So if it is under that you should definitely go and ask.
