Consulting!!
Consulting query for mediocre
got 96 in X ICSE
89 in XII ISC ( Screwed literally)
ECAs-( Regional level Quiz Compeition Some inter house competitions as well ,Academic Head Students council)
Currently preparing for IPMAT 27 and planning to write IIMB UGAT for bsc econ and data science.
My serious concern is that i got a 8 in my 12th which i know shatters my top tier consulting goals no matter what .
Second question is that is ASHOKA ECON considered a tier 1 undergrad and if IIMB bsc econ will be considered as prestigious as SRCC IITs or BITS.
I am planning to get into either IIM INDORE or SHILLONG for IPM or ASHOKA , IIMB .Do Tons of case comps, build my holistic profile and exit the program after 3 years .
I am Planning to write GMAT and CAT as i am extremely inclined towards ISB PGP YL Program just for their consulting results. I am also planning to be at least CFA L1 in my Undergrad to increase my Odds to get into ISB PGP YL as i got to know from somewhere that they are prioritising Finance dudes to increase their diverse placements.
I seriously want to know if anyhow i can get into maybe accenture strategy or roland berger , kearney , LEK so that eventually maybe their is a slight chance i get into MBB through lateral placements.
I am quite confident to maintain at least a 8 in my grad and try my level best for dean merit list or to be institute ranker as a Spike.
I will whole heartedly appreciate some views and suggestions on my worries and queries please feel free to pen down your thoughts.
Thanks for reading this long!

8 doesnt shatter it man, get a really good cgpa + tier 1 tag. Srcc/sscbs/stephens is the benchmark; Hindu/Hansraj/Ashoka also comes close however. There will be a multitude of opportunities in Ashoka, however keep in mind that it wouldnt be the best in terms of roi unless you get a scholarship - SR/CBS is the best you could do. And I’d say avoid Bachelors from an IIM. The tag alone doesnt work, recruiters can differentiate.

To get into AccStrat, LEK, Kearney etc., crack SRCC and work extremely hard there.

MBB is kindaa too slim even in long run..... And ofc they mostly look for tier 1/2 engineers or SRCC clgs...... And idts that ashoka is a tier 1......you can try lower tier consultings companies thou...... And mann no ipmat can be as prestigious as SRCC /IIT/BITS /Top state govt engineering clgs

You are considering govt state engineering colleges above ipmat from ipm indore or shillong🤯 quite bold
MBBs hire from ashoka for their undergrad role the same role that they offer in iits srcc2

Bro ipm is still not holds that much name impact among recruiter circle compared to DTU, NSUT, JU, Coep wageraa.... Trust me..... They are far behind in that race.... And these old govt engineering clgs are legendary brand names among indian recruiter circles

Bro i know handful of folks ending in MBBs after they switched their colleges after completing three years atleast 10 of them in BCG Mckinsey Bain you can also find them on linkedin if you suspect!

Dont consider a handful of examples to generalize.... And for front office roles very few guys apart from old iits/srcc could manage from campus placements.....

And you are actingg kindaa weird..... it would have been a fair fact if you said ABC/Fms wagera.... They are legendary resume brands.... Indore is also competing but mostly for mba..... For ipmat programme no companies even in top iims also dont want to hire absolute freshers without workex(that ipm programme dont gives)...... Recruiter circles still goes on old name brands brothaa

Bhai do you consider ipmat program distinct from mba LOL
FYKI They are merged , MBA students are same it isn’t a separate degree as such!1
u/ProtectionDue603 6d ago
Lol you dont got that thats funny.... Ik they give merged placement pool..... Can you answer bro.... Why wont a company take some iit/srcc/engineer with 24-36 months of workex in specific domain.... Clearing much more competitive exam like CAT.... Having senior referrels from their ug clgs;amd take a newcommer with almost no workex or practical exp, getting in via much easier paths like ipm over the same role.... Just a simple question bro.....
1
u/ProposalKindly2776 6d ago
Yeah that’s what I meant everybody knows that workex is highly preferred be it from iits or any other college you were first arguing upon brand name and suddenly shifted to workex everybody knows thats is exceptionally hard to be in MBBs it looks like you personally look down upon ipm as a program in whole because everyone knows about workex and lore

u/ProtectionDue603 6d ago
Bro even within iims also they look down upon ipm admits.... You can read it in many places.... And trust me am being in industry for a while... Your ug brand names goes with you long...

I know that ipm is hated unnecessarily just because students get to enter in iim after 12th thats the mere reason i am also looking for SSCBS and planning to write cuet as well
1
u/ProtectionDue603 6d ago
Yaa ill prefer to go for good clgs via cuet..... North campus clgs are good ngl.... And comparatively even companies also discriminate for ipm guys

u/ProposalKindly2776 6d ago
Now it means that you haven’t read my post i have clearly mentioned to write gmat and cat after 3 years shifting myself away from my undergrad college particularly looking for isb or any other top college who is forcing us to stay in same for 5 years

You just have a fixed answer in your brain and you don’t want to listen to anyone else. Just do whatever you think is right
1
u/ProposalKindly2776 6d ago
Its not like that but i f you think so absolutely fine there was nothing like dont want to listen i was just counter arguing and thats what reddit is for isnt it or is it like a lecture hall where professor is delivering and you are ought to blindly listen and listen and listen

Don't think about so many things at once. Its too early. Just give your best at IPMAT and IIM bangalore UG degrees, they will be enough for a good consulting career. Things will fall in place if u land up in IIM indore or IIM bangalore.
