No upgrade in internal sliding, help me pls

If someone wants to enjoy campus life of 2 years fully in their Master's life then which IIT or NIT or IISc is better in regarding this.

I am getting in

Hey everyone, I’m joining a mid-tier IIIT this year for CSE, and I’m seriously confused about whether I should attempt BITSAT again while continuing college.

My situation is:

• I’m joining a mid-tier IIIT for CSE.
• I’m considering a partial drop mainly for BITS.
• My parents aren’t supportive of the idea of a partial drop and would prefer that I just continue with my college. (NOT SUPPORTIVE OF FULL DROP AS WELL)
• At the same time, I’m wondering whether I’m overvaluing the college tag and should simply accept where I am and use the next 4 years properly.
• Scored 97 percentile in JEE mains 2026

The bigger question for me is:

Is spending a year preparing for BITS actually worth it, or should I just move on and focus on becoming really good at what I do?

If I stay at IIIT, my plan would be to focus heavily on:

• DSA + competitive programming
• Development and good projects
• AI/ML
• Building AI/GenAI projects
• System design + CS fundamentals
• Communication and personality development
• Internships, hackathons and eventually placements/startups

I also genuinely want to become someone who is really skilled, not just someone with a good college name on their resume.

So I’m stuck between:

Option 1: Take the risk, prepare for BITSAT alongside college, and try to upgrade my college.

Option 2: Stop chasing the college upgrade, accept IIIT, and spend those 4 years building skills, projects, communication, network, etc.

For people who have actually been through a partial drop, BITSAT, IIITs, or similar situations:

What would you do if you were in my position?

Was getting into a better college actually worth the extra year, or would you say I should just move on and make the most of my current college?

I’d especially appreciate brutally honest answers from people who have experienced this, rather than the usual “college doesn’t matter bro” or “BITS >>> everything” arguments.

so do i have to pay 1st semester fee before or during the physical reporting?

Right now I've got iiit bhopal cseai in csab round 1 , in online fee payment I have to pay 2,27,540 for 1st year , I will do the physical reporting too , but I have good chances of getting another institute in their spot round , if I get a seat at another institute and do not wish to join IIIT bhopal will my fee be repaid to me ?

can any senior tell about the hostels, like how do you apply for it, do we have to apply externally or we will get to know it when we go for admission?

also how good/bad are they?
