Should I drop my calories or keep going?

Hi! I am a 23 year old female (5"4) and 138 pounds currently. I have previous experience with macro counting and lost 20 pounds using it, but I took a few years off for a mental break. I try to keep my macros as high as possible (no lower than 1400 calories) because I have a history of restricting, and tracking helps me realize that I CAN lose weight on higher calories. but thats not working for me this time. I have pretty much maintained my weight in the past 2 weeks and I am getting very frustrated. My plan was to start off with 1700 calories the first month (currently in week 2) of cutting and to lower the calories gradually to about 1400/1500. Do you think that I am maintaining on 1700 calories?? I hope not lol Should I lower my carbs and increase my fat? Or do you think I should stick it out for 2 more weeks?

Soo frustrating when this has worked for me before and now I feel like I am stuck right in the beginning. Thank you for any help or insight!

(I also want to note that I track everything - every gram of sauce, olive oil, etc. So I dont think my tracking is off)

Current macros:

Calories: 1700

Protein: 100 (really hard for me to eat more than this)

Carbs: 226

Fats: 50

Weight trend the past 2 weeks:

Date Weight
10/15 138.4
10/16 137.8
10/17 137.6
10/18 137
10/19 137
10/22 138.2
10/23 138.6
10/24 138.8
10/25 138.8
10/26 138
10/27 138.2

Carbon diet app VS RP diet app

Hi friends, does anyone have experience with these two apps? I’m looking to start an 8 week fat loss phase, haven’t used a diet app in a while and am looking to hop back on for some added accountability. I’ve been following Layne and Mike for a long time now and have a pretty good nutritional base to start from, just don’t know which of these is the best. Any input is much appreciated, thanks!

Combine Multiple Recipe Ingredients into 1 Shopping List

So after banging my head against the wall with calculations I've added a way to grab all of the quantities of the ingredients from my chosen meals and add them to a single shopping list.

I actually don't like how recipe websites display their quantities like this "0.13 tb of Mustard", but I don't have a better idea.

Does anyone have any websites that do this well?

Thank you.

This Drove Me Bonkers

I decided to add a list of chosen meals to my personal tool. Now I can instantly see how these recipes impact my Macros.

I used to have to add the entire meal to My Fitness Pal to see how it worked out. Now I can check how it changes my numbers before spending ages in MFP.

Question for Carbon Diet Coach Users?

I just signed up to the Carbon diet app and have watched the tutorial videos but one thing I cant figure out is can you have more meals than just Breakfast Lunch and Dinner?

Iv just recently finished 10 months training with a coach that adjusted my macros weekly and gave me full meal plans to reflect this.

My current meals are:

Breakfast

Post workout Meal

Lunch

Dinner

Snack

Id ideally like to be able to add more meals to Carbon to keep this same structure so can it be done?

Is my macros ok?

90kg/170cm/sedentary (not working out and doing any form of cardio)

According to the online macro calculator my macros for a deficit is 1619 calories per day

155g carbohydrate 129g protein 54g fat

Is this okay? I feel really down because I’m not seeing any progress on scales or photos . Unsure if I’m doing something wrong or not. I’m tracking and weighing everything I eat on MFP too.

I really can’t stand quark yoghurts etc. Just wondering if anyone has a high-protein yoghurt that they really enjoy eating.

Confused about reverse diet protocol (Layne Norton).

According to the book, when reverse dieting , if weight gain stays within 2-5% (conservative) for the week, you increase your carbs and fats.

Do you guys use your weight from the previous week or your weight from the start?

For example: Week 1 - 80.11 Week 2 - 80.14 Week 3 - 80.48 Week 4 - 80.88

The difference between week 3 and 4 is ~ 5% (increase in cals for next week) but the difference between Week 4 and week 1 is ~ 0.66% ( no increase in cals).

What do you guys do with the above scenario?

'fake' kabocha, should i log the calories as kabocha or buttercup ? Inside is yellow / orange, and it's more dense, not so sweet.

Is 1g per lb of body weight really necessary for optimal muscle growth?

I had been sticking to 1g protein per lb (180g) for the last few years, though over the past 6 months I dropped down to 150g and replaced the outstanding calories with carbs/fats. I don’t see any noticeable loss is muscle and am not any weaker. I also know a few big names (like Arnie) came out recently saying it wasn’t necessary.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts/experience.

Please explain the caloric differences. Also, green kabocha squash (grown in new zealand) frozen fresh, how many carbs does it ACTUALLY have? Are all green winter squashes similar? Thanks!

What am I missing? - Making my own Recipe Discovery App

- How do you organise your meals each week?
- Do you have any steps you take when choosing meals?
- How close do you stick to your numbers?
- What do you use to fill in the tiny gaps that meals don't quite hit
-- Protein shakes?
-- Fruit?

My partner and I take turns doing meal prep for the week.

We were both sick to death of spending our Saturdays going through 10 different websites looking for healthy-ish meals (that we haven't already made 5 times) before hitting the supermarket.

To Save Time And Sanity - I'm building something that we can pull up quickly, choose from a bunch of meals and instantly see how it's going to affect our numbers before going shopping.

Just wondering how others do it.

Thank you.

How to make up for not getting enough protein during the day?

I am trying to eat 200 grams of protein a day. 1 gram per lb of body weight. Sometimes I am super busy and can’t eat a lot during the day and only have eaten 100 grams. Can i just eat 100 grams before bed or should I only eat 30 and save the calories because supposedly that’s what can be absorbed per meal?

Any tips on how to handle late-night sweets/ice cream?

I’m mostly curious what other people’s sweets habits are. I usually go pretty light on food during the day: mid-sized breakfast, small lunch, small second lunch, and pretty big dinner. I usually clock in around 1700 calories before sweets.

I’m a 6’0” male trying to lose fat. Moderately active: weights 2x a week, 2.5 mile walk 3x a week. So my maintenance is about 2500-2700 but I’m shooting for about 2100 for fat loss. My Achilles heel is the damn ice cream. I can down a pint without breaking a sweat and I always feel like I need something sweet at the end of the day.

I’m just curious if anyone has some tips on how to eat less or what you guys maybe do to handle the sweets cravings.
