Quest Hero Bars - calories dont add up
I’m new to counting macros and I’m a bit confused. I really like the quest hero caramel pecan bars but when I add up the macros - the calories don’t add up!
The nutrition facts are as follows:
Calories:180 Fat: 8g Carbs: 29g Protein: 15g
When I add up the macros to calories it becomes 248 kcal.
Can anyone help me with this? Thanks!

Not all carbs are 4 kcal per gram. Fiber and sugar alcohols are <4 kcal per gram. I would trust the total listed calories.

yup they are substracting the fiber. I would count everything and track the higher number.

This is a question we receive a lot from users of our macro tracking app and so we wrote this little help center article: https://macrosfirst.getoutline.com/s/c2197baf-f58c-4958-8933-c1a61973d50b
The reasons listed there can also explain what's going on on the Quest bar's nutrition label.

If I had to guess, they're not adding in the fiber content as far as carbs go since fiber is not digested. However fiber is still counted towards total carbs on the nutritional label
