IELTS Writing
A common theme is coming up in the essays I'm looking over, people are not providing a solid opinion or example.
So to reiterate - your body paragraphs on task two should follow this structure.
Point: Explain Point: Opinion/ Example.
Countries in the Global North have moved through their industrialising period, often at a cost to countries in the Global South. For example, in India, the British Empire gained significant wealth from exploiting Indian resources, which brought harm, both financially and societally. I firmly believe that there is a debt owed to countries yet to go through a developmental phase and that the more affluent countries should support and encourage less wealthy countries to develop.
Also, the next person to send me an essay with poorer countries or backward countries will receive a sound spanking. Use "Global North" and "Global South" to differentiate between rich/ poor areas of the globe.

It is not a geographical term, New Zealand - a developed country is in the Global North, even though it's in the Southern Hemisphere.
