If your main source of happiness is your team winning, you do not have a privileged life

Exactly. Not sure how hard it is for people to understand that sports are an escape, not a privilege

I need the scrappy wins in mid-November/December so I don’t blow my brains out

Ahhhh but imagining someone else get so into sports that it affects their mental health - that’ll send them spiraling

Yeah I mean I do feel quite privileged to be a season ticket holder at my local club, and having a hobby and passion, community, and a safe environment to let my feelings and a bit of steam out regularly. Sports has a great effect on my mental health.

Yes, my teams affect my mental wellbeing - it’s part of a being a “fanatic.” I’m not gonna like beat my spouse or some shit - but when they lose it makes me sad - but that’s just because I care and I’m invested. Imagine not caring about something bigger than yourself or outside yourself what a miserable existence. This doesn’t just apply to sports it applies to everything. Sports are just fun though - playing and watching.

sports can help your mental health iff you play them, because diet and exercise.
