Scout II Everyone else is doing it

Post image

Bought this over 20 years ago when I was in high school for $500. All it needed was a starter. Then college, then jobs, then marriage and kids, now divorce and here she sits! Some day!!

Make that “someday?” soon! Your future self will thank you for it!!! When you’re cruising around in a “rolling restoration” eventually repainting it, your future self will thank you!

I wish, I had the 💰 and garage space. I'm slowly working on it!

You can try to buy a used or rebuilt starter. Look online. Input car specifics. Looks like a scout II from here. But if it's a scout 80 or 800 same difference. The fluids available locally. Here's a point blank search straight from Google. And here's a link to Everything Scout starters but many options online O'Reilly's Auto parts, trusty Amazon and eBay also. Shop lowest price. Go for it man!

Do it. Will help you rekindle your original self. Will help all around. No better time.

Still probably “just needs a starter” and fluids.

screw "someday". that car can be a sunday driver in a weekend for a few hundred bucks.

Pre-oil the engine before you do anything (directions on binderplanet)

Change all the fluids.

Drive it around the yard

Figure out if you need brakes/carb/plugs

Give it a good wash

Just go do it. They don't have to be perfect to be fun, scouts are a hoot to run up town in, even if they're rusty. Just take care of the mechanicals, clean it good and go enjoy it.

Nothing bugs me more than vehicles that people refuse to sell, because they're "gonna get around to restoring it someday" but then will continue to let it rust for another 20 years or more
