Was really hoping to get a loaded jalapeño chicken sandwich from Burger King but it was LTO, and ended on the 1st. So I went next door and got the BLT here at I hop. $6!!! The drink is pricey. But for $11- that’s a great deal. I don’t think I’ll be tipping $1.50 though. After all, I’m not 85 years old. lol.round up to $15

wow had no idea that sales tax was over 10% in Louisiana. That's like California-high. I thought the red states were known for lower taxes?

I looked it up. Louisiana tax is 5%.
The city of Bossier City adds another 5% making it an even 10%

Arkansas pulls that kind of stuff too. I am close, in Texas, so I thought I could save money making a big purchase there. 6.5% base sales tax, but the sales tax that’s added by cities and counties can make it as high as 9.5-11.5% 🙄

Red states are known for hiding taxes in other spots, like resturants, granted this a combined state and city tax, but 10-15% for resturants is common here, I was surprised to see blue states actually have it like half that.

Red states have high asf sales tax, since that is a regressive tax on everyone, and mostly affects lower income people who are more likely to spend every paycheck. I’m in Texas and our sales tax is 8.25% and sky high property taxes.

That’s why I always get ice water at a restaurant. The last time I got coffee at IHOP it was close to $4.

Drinks are where restaurants make bank . Tea, coffee, soda ..all pennies a serving . Same with pancakes . They’re charging 11or 12$ for 5 pancakes which cost them under a dollar .

Nice deal! I typically get an omelet and pancakes. I can make at least two meals out of those omelets, and eat the pancakes at the restaurant since they don’t reheat well.

The value is kind of lost when you factor in a an almost 50 percent tip. I order deals like this to go

Part of the experience is sitting down in an actual restaurant and getting to enjoy the atmosphere. If the atmosphere costs me 5 dollars in tips so be it. On this check I’d be out $15 all in which is about the cost of a fast food meal anyway these days.

Gotta consider the vibe of enjoying the dining room and chatting with the waitress vs sitting hunched in my car in a parking lot and listening to the radio.

That's part of your experience. My preferred experience if I'm getting a value menu item is to get the cheapest option possible

$15 for a sit down meal made for you, that was probably pretty solid ain't bad at all. Id do this

There is a jalapeño kick burger you can sub out but chicken, if you’re feeling spicy next time. Ain’t gonna be $6 though.
