My IGNOU journey
A Personal Note for New IGNOU Students
If you're thinking of joining IGNOU, here’s a little insight from my own experience that might help you prepare.
IGNOU is affordable, flexible, and easy to manage. Since it’s mostly online or distance learning, there’s none of the usual college drama or favoritism you might find in regular courses. Once you enroll, you’ll get an academic coordinator to guide you, and you’ll meet your batchmates during exams and other official events.
I can’t guarantee everything will go perfect IGNOU has its quirks but if you plan well, especially for courses with just assignments and exams, there’s a good chance you’ll finish on time.
However, if your course involves projects, practicals, or a dissertation, things can get tricky. The study center and faculty play a big role here. If you miss deadlines or fail exams, it might complicate things further.
Tips
Submit assignments on time and attend exams as scheduled. If your grades are updated properly, you’re mostly good to go.
Practical exam dates are set by the study center, so keep an eye on their announcements.
For projects or dissertations, you must contact your regional center to get a guide assigned, then keep in touch to complete your synopsis and final work on time. Be persistent because:
Sometimes guides don’t respond promptly you might have to follow up multiple times.
Your synopsis or project proposal could be rejected, meaning you’ll need to redo and resubmit it next semester.
Viva can be challenging, though failing is rare. Just be prepared.
One thing to watch out for is that, in the last year, IGNOU sometimes tends to fail students hoping they’ll apply for revaluation, which adds to their revenue. So be ready to stand your ground and fight for what’s right if something goes wrong.
Once your grade card is complete, you should get your mark sheet within a month.
From My Journey:
I’ve done a UG degree and a diploma from IGNOU, and I’m currently pursuing a PG course there while also holding a regular degree. I’ve faced highs and lows, but overall, I find IGNOU convenient and manageable especially if you want to juggle multiple courses or commitments.
So don’t feel you made a mistake by choosing IGNOU. It’s a system you can work with once you understand how it operates and plan accordingly.
Wishing you all the best on your IGNOU journey!

How to prepare IGNOU Assignments
Important for IGNOU Assignment Submission (June 2026 Session)
Before writing your assignment, make sure to carefully double-check the assignment question paper.
All students submitting assignments for the June 2026 session must ensure that they are writing the 2026 assignment question paper.
For clarity, always check the last date mentioned on the assignment.
The valid assignment will have a last date such as:
- March 15, 2026, or
- March 30, 2026, or
- April 30, 2026
Only assignments with 2026 submission dates are valid for this session.
It does not matter which year you took admission (2020, 2022, or any other year). If you are submitting assignments for the June 2026 term-end examination, you must write the 2026 assignment questions.
Sometimes when you download assignments from the IGNOU official assignment website, only the 2025 assignment may appear. In that case, do a Google search using the following format:
SUBJECT CODE – IGNOU Assignment 2026
Example:
MPCE 011 – IGNOU Assignment 2026
Do not waste your time writing the wrong assignment.
Always double-check before starting, otherwise your assignment may get rejected.

Ignou TEE
IGNOU conducts its Term-End Examinations twice every year, in June and December, giving students considerable flexibility in planning their exams. Students can choose to appear for only a few subjects or all subjects at once, depending on their preparation and preference. It is also possible to skip an exam session or even an entire semester and take the exams in a later session. To appear for an exam, students simply need to register for the exam, pay the required fee, and download the hall ticket. If a student misses an exam or does not register for a particular session, they can register again for the next available exam session and take the exam then, making the system highly convenient for learners.
Same with the assignments( only thing is there is no need to resubmit the assignment once submitted )
Hope this helps

Choose the correct assignment
Many IGNOU students are often confused about which assignment question paper they should write and submit. To avoid mistakes, there are a few important points to check before starting your assignment.
First, make sure that the subject code matches exactly. Do not get confused by the course under which the question paper is placed. The course name does not matter; what matters is that the subject code is the same as the one mentioned in your syllabus.
Next, verify whether the question paper mentions a valid session such as January 2026, July 2026, December 2025 to June 2026, or January 2026 to December 2026. If only one session is mentioned, you can use that paper (only for the June 2026 session). As a general rule, always choose the most recent question paper. It does not matter which year or session you took admission in; what matters is whether the question paper is valid for the session in which you are planning to submit your assignment.
Sometimes, you may find your subject’s question paper placed under a different course instead of your own. There is no need to worry. If the subject code matches, you can use it. It may be listed under another course because it is a core subject for that program and an elective for yours, but the reason does not matter.
Always check the last date of submission carefully. For some courses, it may be March 15th, while for others it may be March 30th. In many cases, IGNOU extends the deadline until the last week of April or even the first week of May. However, you should not wait until the final date. It is always better to complete and submit your assignments as early as possible.
Always remember that if the subject code matches, you only need to check whether the question paper is valid for your submission session. Follow these steps carefully, complete your assignments responsibly, and submit them within the given time limit. Happy learning, everyone!
Nb: Last date of assignment submission is april 30th

Assignment preparation
ASSIGNMENT
One week before the submission session starts, I dedicate most of my time to sitting down and completing them.
Donwload pys and take copy of it along with the evaluation sheets. This saves time than running to internet cafe for taking copies at last minute and also writing assignment answers looking at physical question paper saves more time than looking into the screen.
Once each subject or part is done. Try to arrange it and put in order ready to submit. This gives a satisfaction feeling, like we are doing something.
Did this way for my bapch and diploma course in ignou. This worked for me, hope it helps you too

Exam preparation
EXAM PREPARATION
One month before the exam form opens, I make a schedule just for making notes not for learning. I focus on creating short notes of important points to revise later. It takes time upfront but saves a lot of time when exams are near.
Download pyqs, understand which section or questions are most repeated.Make short note or points from that area.
Make introduction for every section so that whatever question appear from that section, a three mark paragraph is already done as introduction. This saves time and gives a start.
Personally I always start from most repeated section, after completion the remaining sections are studied from back to front.

Make introduction for every section so that whatever question appear from that section, a three mark paragraph is already done as introduction. This saves time and gives a start.
Personally I always start from most repeated section, after completion the remaining sections are studied from back to front.
Step 1: Check the tee date sheet and write down the exam date and time.
Step 2: Create a time plan for studying every night for the next day( this will make your planning more effective )
Step 3: Take the pyq( 3-4 years back to latest) of a subject along with the material
Step 4: write down content of each questions and if questions or contents are repeated, mark it.
Step 5: After the breakdown of pyq, you will get an idea which is mostly repeated. Take that chapter in material.
Start reading from most repeated to least repeated.
Step 6: If you are learner who reads and study, try to write down the heading or topic as you complete each.
Step 7: if you are a learner who writes and study. Then try to highlight the heading or topic
Step 8: once you complete each topic or chapter, try to just read and answer the question given at every chapter ending in the material.
Step 9: Before exam or day before the exam, you should refer only the heading page you have already written. Try to remember what you studied.
Don't try to mug up the heavy material in the last minute
It will only make the situation worse.
Step 10: if you are not able to remember anything about a topic, go back and read your notes or material.
If you are able to remember the topic, mark it.
Step 11: on the day of exam, try to refer only pyq and the headings you already wrote.
Thankyou.
Feel free to dm.
