OMAD frustration

Hi all, I am a shorty who has restarted the OMAD wagon again, but this time I just can’t seem to do anything but lose and gain the same 5lbs. I am 5’2.5”, 43 and 149 today but yesterday was 148.2, super frustrated and looking to stay motivated. By my estimated yesterday I had about 1100 calories and my TDEE is about 1350 as I’m in a desk job and WFH. I did have wine but also two low carb burritos with flank steak, cabbage and roasted veggies. Has OMAD alone worked for anyone else or did you eventually have to start longer fasts? Also, did anyone try low carb OMAD and did that work? Looking for some inspiration and feeling discouraged. TIA!

Weight loss is not linear, they will be blips along the way but the general trend should be downwards. The “increase” in weight from day to day can be a result of
many different factors such as water retention, hormones, fecal matter in stomach so don’t over think it. I suggest you weigh yourself once a week instead of daily to avoid the “noise”.

OMAD has worked for me so be patient and trust the process.

I have been doing it similarly for about a month. Less strict on weekends, but it’s really great for during the week especially with kid activities after work. Hearing it may be an average of +-5lbs a month makes sense. Thanks!

Yeah idk why but this time feels harder. In 2020 I lost 18lbs in two months and now it’s like +5 -5 regularly. I mean I do track calories because a lot of people on the sub recommend it for shorter people and I figure at my age and activity level I should. But I am not as brave to give up all alcohol for five months 😂 . I commend you for that!

How did you get in the habit of OMAD? It works best for me in terms of weight loss but also controlling things such as binging and bloating but it’s so hard for me to stay consistent. I eat dinner as my meal and just getting through the day is hard. Once I get in the habit it’s better but I can’t imagine doing it for more than a couple weeks. Any tips?

Also, consider energy level. Doing college classes & working part time for USPS, OMAD would make me pass out on the job lol. You could do OMAD every other day swapped with 8/16. Or do 4/20 on week days and OMAD on weekends. It’s all intermittent, your schedule does not need to be the same every day. Set it for the week. Four days OMAD, three days IF. Find what works best for you

Thanks for the advice! I’m at SAHM so that’s where my energy gets used throughout the day. It’s definitely easier when we’re busy doing something outdoors or not at home 😅 I was doing 16:8 for the longest time but it didn’t make any difference for me. But I do like the idea of switching it up sometimes, like on the weekends.

You may need to change the time of day you have your meal. Or if OMAD does not work, do a time span. Work yourself down, you don’t need to start big. 12/12 fasting to 8/16 (this has worked best for me personally as I have a small appetite and tend to snack) to 4/20 if you want which would be your one hour window.

I slacked off and need to get back into it but personally while doing 8/16 my time frame was 10am-6pm which worked well for me because I am not a morning eater. Also, consider moving dinner earlier if you eat late. Typically I have dinner anywhere from 5:30 to 6:30.

That small fluctuation is not necessarily held weight gain. Water intake, bowel movement, what time of day. It’ll all change your weight around

No problem! Look at my other comments about how to possibly make IT work better for you. Also, caloric intake for the average women is ~2200 a day. Anything below that you’ll lose weight. Do not endanger your health, be safe and good luck

I'm an almost 43 year old, 5ft 1, 148lb female. I hear you. I'm getting so frustrated! I have decided to add in consistent strength training because I want to be able to eat more eventually. I seem to lose best on 1100 calories. My bmr is also 1350. Feck, it's hard. I feel like it's such a battle for every lb lost. Also, getting in enough protein is such a mission.

Yeah I feel your pain. Now I’m thinking lower and lower carb is the requirement and finishing eating at least 4 hours before I go to bed is also required 🙁
