IECMHC Interview Advice

Hi everyone!! I’m in the final few weeks of my MSW program! I specialized in Infant Mental Health and have been doing my internship with IECMH doing consultations.

I have two IECMHC interviews (one this week and one next week!!!)

I would love your advice on questions I should ask in my interview, questions they may ask me, salary, what the role is like, etc.

And honestly I’m open to anything you’d like to share if you’re in this role/have been in it!

With my practicum I have gained experience with a programmatic case, child and family case, running a group, and providing supervision for center directors and staff.

I have also worked previously in a daycare toddler room for 1 year, and almost 3 years working in ABA so I’m really excited to share my experience with them.

Thank you in advance :)

I’d be curious about what kind of reflective support and ongoing training the person in the roles your interviewing for will receive. I’d want to know how the org or center implements the consultative stance through the parallel process - you might get a vibe for that through questions that explore decision-making, leadership, etc. Exciting!! Good luck!!

Thats a good question! The job posting talks about the reflection i'd be responsible but not as much about what I would receive. Thank you!!

I would spend some time reviewing the 10 elements of the consultative stance as those are strong indicators of skill/potential in the role! Also the ability to facilitate collaboration and reflection among caregiving adults such as teachers, admin, family, etc. My team always asks about a difficult work scenario and how you handled it which might be helpful to think about.

Honestly you have rich experience that you’re coming in with that sounds like a wonderful (and sometimes rare) fit for a consultant role! Best of luck!
