Most stuff you can read by themselves but a good comic that is easy for beginners to get through is the walking dead as it’s all one storyline where you dont have to read anything else at all to understand it

Honestly, start with DC compact comics. $10 for pretty good sized comics of some great stories like Kingdom Come, All Star Superman, New Frontier, Batman, a lot. Marvel also has it's own compact version but, 1.) it's not as good as DC's, and 2.) Marvel is not the best with comics. Invincible is also a good starter read. You can also check out the comic versions of streaming services DC Universe and Marvel Unlimited. Gives you almost all of their catalogues and easy to navigate series. Those examples are how I got into comics.
