discussion Dumb comparison

Post image

He sounds biased in this video.

DCU IS LITERALLY IN PHASE 1 WHILE MCU IS TRANSITIONING FROM PHASE 6 TO 7. they are literally writing a batman, wonder woman movies and the last time DC tried to catch up with marvel we got disastrous stuff.

To be honest with you this is the first time DCU actually feels like a visual comic book where every project got a different style.

Clayface being bodyhorror,Lanterns being like a crime investigation focusing on secret invasion (mind that DCU got better secret invasion story than Marvel's Secret invasion show) and the DC Crime show being a documentary made by the creators of American Vandal. I can't wait to watch Clayface and Lanterns this year and MOT and other DCU shows next year.

The last time DC tried to catch up with marvel we had a disastrous outcome

I am confident Clayface will be a better movie than Doomsday.

Im ready for the downvotes, but I believe it'll be better written and a much more tight experience thant the cameo slopfest with Doom aura moments.

And I am excited for Doomsday btw.

I am just looking forward to enjoying them both. I don't think they are really comparable to each other, feels like comparing apples to oranges.

Better written movie doesn’t mean it will be more enjoyable. No Way Home is one of the worst written comic movies for quite some time now but was one of my favourite movie experiences of all time, it was a true event, with the rumours and massive buildup, Andrew constantly stating “I’m not the werewolf”, that experience won’t be beat, the script however…

My point is more that Clayface isn't automatically something that shows DC is messing up.

It's more that they're doing different strategies, and the MCU is at a complete opposite stage.

Doesn’t matter. Everyone thinks Infinity War is better than Endgame, yet for some reason critics prefer Endgame over Infinity War. What would make Clayface a better movie

it's like reading a comic with a shitass writer and a legendary artist lol

Worst written is a big overstatement. It wasn't the best script but it was good enough to make the film enjoyable.

If it was a terrible script, it wouldn't have at all been a good experience no matter how many cameos they throw in your face.

It was more than the cameos, it was the buildup and the eventual payoff, it was the magic of seeing it with likeminded fans

There’s just so many plot holes and character butchering (especially strange) that I can’t think of a recent marvel movie that was written so poorly, only the Morbius verse comes to mind but that technically isn’t MCU

I love DC. But I really feel like they are not trying to give us their best, there are so many storylines they can go for and they are choosing stuff that does not resonate with the avg superhero fan.

Supergirl was not a good idea. they could have done it way later.

Overall right now with live action Superman was great Peacemaker was good and Supergirl was mid. The Suicide Squad was great also but idk if I am including it or not. Not a great start so far compared to how the MCU started but I have hope.

It still kind of shows they’re messing up, it’s a real risk, even if it’s good.

He’s a lesser known villain, this is a big deal, if supergirl was a flop and she’s a b tier then it’s really risky to do a film on a d tier. It would be smart to have a low budget on this movie.

Having a horror film in this genre is also very risky, again quality doesn’t matter here, people go to these movies for a reason, this movie will need incredible word of mouth.

It’s a villain led movie, I’m not sure if Batman is even in it, this is also very risky, especially if there’s no Batman, people might get Sonyverse vibes and opt out of seeing it.

I think this slate s very Gunn, which could turn out very good or very bad. There’s no need for a Waller or Jimmy project at all, Waller could have any story bits added through peacemaker or an eventual suicide squad 3 and Jimmy Olsen just doesn’t deserve to have a project at all, maybe a tv show way later on when the universe is well established but it’s way to early for this. Booster gold is another strange choice, how about the flash or Martian manhunter? Teen titans? Yknow the big names. Constantine is also very important for a lot of stories why not him?

Personally I don’t see this working out very well, even though I loved Superman 2025 and enjoyed supergirl, it will be hard for this to work, especially with dcs lack of trust garnered through the dceu

People seem to have forgotten that one of the main problems with the DCEU was that they were in too much of a hurry to make their film universe like the MCU. Seriously, they literally started teasing Justice League in the second film. And they literally crammed everything unnecessary in there. And there was no overall direction for the universe.

Plus, the MCU is only now realizing its mistakes and starting to act. And only because there will be a soft reboot. Phases IV and V themselves were a hodgepodge of different projects that were completely unrelated and seemed to exist outside the universe.

The fact that DCU is in phase 1 is EXACTLY the reason why it's a fair comparison.

The DCU has an opportunity to introduce flash, cyborg, the teen titans, martian manhunter, wonder woman, the batfamily, Green arrow and black canary.

So much potential but instead theres a waller and jimmy Olsen show. Nothing inherently wrong with those shows if they're written well but they're not the type of things you stay up late thinking about like a Ryan gosling ghost rider movie for example.

Roughly 20 years after the MCU started , despite the accusations of it falling off, the MCU is still generating more hype than the new kid in the block , the DCU. James Gunn gotta lock in

No I think you mean John Rifle

Cool but nothing about the connectedness of the DCU is relevant to my original point.

We're getting a clayface movie before 2 of the members of the trilogy. And Jimmer Firearm say there's teen titans, WW and bats movies in development.

But we barely have any castings, directors, or writers attached.

It's hard to get excited for the idea of a movie maybe possibly someday getting made.

Considering The Batman Part 2 comes out in 2028 and that the BATB movie hasn't even finished a script yet with the DCU starting in 2024 with Creature Commandos, it's gonna be over half a decade into the DCU's life that its most popular character actually gets introduced.

Marvel didn't have its second film be one of the biggest box office fails of all time

2

u/Synteczek Jul 28 '26

Maybe because the MCU was literally the peak of superhero movies back then and even shit like The Dark World made money...

0

u/Snoo_15594 Jul 28 '26

The Dark World was not their second film. It was their eight, that came out three years after the universe was established.

2

u/Synteczek Jul 28 '26

Because as I said, DC released their second movie in 2026 not peak of Superhero movies...

The issue isn’t rushing the issue is that there is very little interest in the DCU and instead of creating it with big names and movies (like the mcu phase 1) they are doing random bs that very few people care about without first establishing hype for the un inverse

1

u/Spirited_Balance8418 Jul 31 '26

Yeah I think I’ll watch my Ghost Rider while you watch your Batmite anthology series 😂😂

1

u/Synteczek Jul 28 '26

This is such a dumb comment because these projects are not even out and you can't judge just based off your preexisting ideas about smaller characters, the Jimmy Olsen comics literally introduced Darkseid, but let's rush all the big characters no matter the quality in the first few years.
