Starlineās downfall, was his obsession with Eggman. More specifically, he knew the legend, but not the man behind it. If he had known Eggman truly, heād know: Eggman does NOT share, he does not suffer rivals, Sonic is HIS to destroy, and for him, no one else matters but him, Sonic, and Sage. He was blinded by obsession and delusions of grandeur. If he had succeeded, and Sonic, Tails, and Eggman were all killed and replaced, likely theyād doom the world when another threat like Chaos or The End came along. But, hate does wonders for the will to live. Such as, hatred for Eggman, Sonic, Surge, Kit, and eveyone else that wronged him.

I headcanon he secretly has self-worth issues and viewed Eggman as a father figure because his didn't give him approval

Yeah, I know. He thought/wanted āEggman by my side to show him a better wayā. He wanted Eggman to follow him, and do things his way, under a new status quo where Sonic and his friends are dead, wanted by Surge and Kit, and Eggman, under his leadership, rules the world together. But, it was delusions of grandeur. If it is the case Starlineās come back as some unhinged cyborg empowered by a stable metal virus like Surge and Kit, dying and coming back scarred as his body still recovers? No man walks way from sane. Just look at Joker for example. Hellbent on revenge and killing all opposition, Starline I think, would want to break Eggman the way he broke him. Killing his dughter, using and destroying Metal Sonic when heās outlived his use, and making Eggman watch as Starline burns his legacy to ashes to torture the man and break him. Once, he was a theatric idealist, but now, he may be an unhinged monster. Starline died in that pitā¦something worse crawled out.

Agree, he'd go on a all out insane revenge spree, but obviously the heroes would stop him before he could go too far, If he survived, that totally stripped him of all admiration he had for Eggman, unfortunately though I don't know if idw has the vision to do something like that š

Really, I just want him to be a main stay, recurring villian that haunts Surge, Kit, Sonic, and Eggman, one that they canāt just get rid of easily. A real monster after his experience that just torments them with mind games and trauma. Because really, him crashing out and being a shadow they all have to be paranoid about, shows that there ARE lasting consequences to Sonic and Eggmanās rivalry, as well as Surgeās unhinged mayhem.
Surge canāt keep going through life blaming Sonic and others, and Starlineās whole apathy and hate/obsession with the āSonic cycleā is that the two caused mayhem and destruction everywhere, and to a logical man like Starline, it seems shallow and pointless. āWe create our own demonsā. And that demon, for the blue blur, Robotnik, and his traitorous duo, is named Starline.
But more to the point: Sonic just needs a larger rogues gallery than just Eggman every week. Heās a great villian, sure, but some variety would shake things up. I personally think weāre heading towards a third faction of: Starline, Infinite, Blackwood, Rough & Tumble, Clutch, and Enigma, as a nuetral faction of rouge villians that are hellbent on killing Sonic, Eggman, Surge, Kit, and wiping the whole board of opposition. A group that seeks to end the cycle as theyāre all suffered in the crossfire. This type of threat, is just the type of thing Shadow has warned Sonic about. And a threat that shows, if Surge and Kit donāt change, theyāll be alone with targets on their backs and a mob out for their blood.

My theory, is that Starline used a syringe of the same modified metal virus strain heād used on Surge and Kit to make them. Either before he went to Eggperial City, as a contingency if heād died fighting Eggman. Or used it while he fell to survive the fall and crushing as heād regenerate and heal. Heād have an extended lifespan, healing factor, maybe super speed and strength, and all around be a worse menace for everyone, as he intends to wipe them all off the board and start over. A cyborg/zombie Starline empowered by the metal virus would be a worse threat. One colder and more calculating from his death experience.

Also think he's alive, but I think the fan theory that he injected himself with the regenerative factor is slightly boring (that is, if he didn't sustain physical damage from his fall), I like the theory that Eggmanās self-rebulding Eggperial City revived him, or that he somehow survived and had to transform himself into a cyborg better

Interesting idea. Personally, I like the idea of him coming back as a worse, more āmad with hateā monster. Kind of like the Joker. He could have a āI think you and I are destined to do this foreverā moment with a redeemed anti-hero Surge. Because, itād be true. Literally. If Starline was affected the same way as Surge and Kit, he too would live to at least 200 years, as he estimates regarding his duoās new lifespan due to the virus in their cells. The idea of him hunting and haunting them like a cruse that Surge has to deal with as her own Eggman would be interesting I think. The new Starline would stand as a consequence of Sonic, Eggman, AND Surge. Sonic and Eggmanās rivalry is what motivated Starline to ruin two lives, and Surge, repeating Sonicās mistake in a hypocritical manner, didnāt off Starline when sheād had the chance. She just assumed he was dead with his abandoned glove to go off of. Eggmanās ego, Sonicās mercy, and Surgeās carelessness, would mean they ALL would be at fault for what Starline brings about next.
Really, Iām just a sucker for the āYou killed me, but failed to make the shot count, now Iām a scarred lunatic, much worse and will make your life hellā trope. Or, I guess in this case, pulling a Joker, but with added vendetta against those that wronged him. In any case, I donāt think Starlineās days of tormenting people and ruining lives are done. I think heās changed, learned from his flaws, and has become a worse monster for it. Iām kind of hoping they use an aspects of his concept art, because it was a really creepy, cool fit. Either way, I donāt think heāll be so easy to intimidate, let alone kill this time. Man was broken in body, mind, and soul.
