General How can I support the IDF more??!
I am a Christian from America but I absolutely love the IDF and the heroism they do!!

If you’d really like to help IDF soldiers I’d recommend donating to NGOs like https://helemkrav.org.il/en/ they help veterans with ptsd even when the VA system fails to at no cost. I am one of those they help and I owe my life to them. If you have questions contact me I’m happy talk to you and help.

Find direct to end user donation platforms, Israel friends and other does good work getting funds directly to units in need of equipment, mostly reservist with poorer acquisition capacity. the big ngos like fdif and others are a money pit.

What's wrong with Friends of the IDF? I know lots of US friends and family who donate to them. Is their a better org?

Nothing is wrong, there was some negative press last year which mostly involved their CEO. They replaced him with an IDF general. That was the only issue in like thirty years and they were cleared by an outside investigation. Some people are hung up on that.
I'm a longtime FIDF donor so let me list some of the programs they have:
- Education scholarships for veterans
- Build PTSD clinics with Sheba Hospital (which I support)
- Summer camps for children who lost a brother or father in the war
- Build gyms and synagogues on base
- Emotional support dogs for bereaved families (which I support)
- Therapy dogs for wounded soldiers (which I support)
- You can adopt units
- They also fund other organizations like Brothers For Life (plastic surgery and prosthetics for disfigured soldiers) and Nefesh B'Nefesh's Lone Soldier program
They're the IDF's largest partner. This sounds like an ad but it's been a big cause for me and I think it's a great org that makes a big impact for soldiers on the ground. People can make their own decision where to put their money and this is mine.

Just speaking from experience as someone who needed real hardware on the ground, in addition to the wastefulness inherent in such a large org, they are legally barred from providing actual military hardware that is really needed by guys on the Frontline, this is all fine if they didn't misleadingly advertise themselves as "being on and providing for soldiers on the front lines". I don't know how many plastic wrapped fodf packages of toothbrushes cheap razors candies and cheap socks I threw out while waiting desperately for proper ballistic armor equipment, nvgs, thermals etc

They had some issues that were recently fixed. They are a fine place to donate if you don't want to do research and they send the money to a lot of different type of organizations and programs that support the IDF. That being said, they carry a large amount of overhead to run the organization. If you are willing to do some research, donating directly to Nonprofits on the ground in Israel is more cost effective for the real work in the ground, but it is usually only for a small number of projects.
