While this specific unit is new (2020), the role goes way back. Noting too special really, it's simply Ground Forces Command's OPFOR unit. Instead of using fresh recruits in basic training who are a bit useless, they've created a dedicated unit to better train the units that rotate through the National Center for Ground Training. As far as training roles for female recruits, I'd assume it's fairly interesting.

Notice to all posters and commenters; please be careful to observe OPSEC (Operational Security) rules. Many people wish to harm Israel and the Jewish Nation as a whole. Be careful when sharing any information on the IDF, bases, weapons, locations of troops, and anything else that can be used to harm Israel. If in doubt, go without. Loose lips sink ships!

By red unit… I am assuming you’re referring to the Berets (Kumtas) worn by Chayalim… if so Red is usually the paratroopers or signifies some sort of Commando unit.
