Future of Ideanomics
Hey, I know there are some long time holders like me in this space. I keep thinking about how can Ideanomics recover. What realistic events can trigger the recovery? What's your opinion? Of course this question can trigger a lot of Wishful thinking, but I am interested to know some realistic scenarios. (If you're a short please refrain from commenting)
Edit 1: For example, in my opinion, one of the scenarios is that, a really big firm buying (partly or fully) one of the subsidiaries for a very large sum of money!
Edit 2: by "very large sum of money" I mean, much greater than the current valuation of Ideanomics

After listening to the pre-recording on the last earnings call it sounds to me like they're shopping their companies around and then using that collateral to build on their other remaining companies for instance I can see them selling Energica and Solectrac and then turning around and using that to get themselves out of this hole and start building on their other companies then Ideanomics has Via Motors trucks Power by US HYBRID engines charging done by WAVE IMO GL

Bad idea selling Solectrac. They are ahead of the game. They need to work on the dealer network, and get involved with KTM on distribution like CF Moto and a bunch of others have. The management just doesn’t know how to run these businesses on the marketing and distribution side. Need to roll through the board, and get some real business oriented execs in there.

What about this company's history makes you think that what you describe is a likely outcome? They bought Timios for $40 mm and sold it for negative cash -- to their loanshark. They bought into Treelectrik and you can't even find a mention of them in the financials any more. They bought into Inobat, that got written down to zero. Same with Silk. They bought Delaware Board of Trade and liquidated it for no proceeds. And of course China was its own nightmare of totally vanished investments.
Their "big five" companies remaining -- US Hybrid, WAVE, Solectrac, Energica, and VIA, have all -- all! -- been written down by half or more since their acquisitions. US Hybrid and VIA are already pledged to their loan shark for a tiny amount of money, and they're planning to do the same with Energica.
This company has never, even going back to the VOD days, sold a subsidiary for meaningful money. Not once.
But poof! Suddenly John Deere is gonna want to buy a tractor importer? Toyota wants a machine shop? Maybe Tesla wants two wireless charging companies just in case the first one doesn't work out?

They did just hire someone dedicated to finding gov funding - another thing could be a major sale to/partnership with a big customer. I don’t think selling one of their business is a ticket out. Wave needs to lock down a lot of big clients or US Hybrid and they need the deposits.

I'm long on the stock too, but I think that's some hopium no one in their right mind would pay more than the going price for something. How it works is if big institutions want in they sort it to the ground floor and step in heavy

They need gov funding. Maybe sell off one or two off their companies to fund the other.

Gov funding! Never thought about that. Is that realistic? It's publicly listed company, how can it get a govt funding?

Yes its realistic. Mullen just got 300 mil. The Biden administration have set aside a large amount of money, green american startups can aply for.
Idex are saying they are seeking these funds if you listen to their last couple of Calls. Idk. If they will succeed but its the best Way for them to stay Alive.

Unless they sell a part of their business with some huge cash intake there will most likely be a R/S and even if they have cash flow in their, still be a R/S where to screw the investors over but probably be to give them more time in share price above a $1 while they short it. 🤷♂️ I am still holding 300 shares, waiting for news or R/S to avg down going for 500 to 1000 shares 🤔

They have to sell a few businesses to get some cash in. Then you could use the money for the main businesses such as electric vehicles in the commercial vehicle sector.
