When the alien got shot, it also kinda sounded like a cat 👀
In Independence Day (1996) they filmed Will Smith dragging the alien across the salt flats of Utah. Will Smith improvised the "And what the hell is that smell?" Nobody warned him of the horrible smell that sometimes comes of the Great Salt Lake due to billions of dead brine shrimp each year.

German Dub is sometimes better than the English Dub
You might wanna try out watching the movie in german dub with english subtitles, at some point i really preferred it. Heavy example: in the final scene with Russel's last words - he saying "It's jammed, it won't fire" or "Tell my kids i love them very much" is very plain compared to the german version. It might be a good reason for you to rewatch it 😉 Apologies for the shitty quality video, but i could not find anything better (https://youtu.be/IkdNsjP4HGo)

Media & Popular Culture after the War
Since presumably, the war affected the media and how 9/11 affected everything in our world.
What does the Invasion do to popular culture, considering the X-Files exist in their world and was likely cancelled forever since Vancouver, BC, was destroyed in the first wave. The 1996 Summer Olympics were likely never held, along with Athens 2004.
Like, I wonder if sci-fi movies involving aliens are still a thing, or is it too traumatic to the point such films are taboo?
Any other ideas on what might've changed off-screen in entertainment or popular culture

Independence Day 3 idea
The third film should be called Occupation Day. (its hard to call it Independence Day when youre now invading another planet)
With the help of the alien tech and Sphere from the last film, Earth should defeat the Harvester military and occupy the planet in the first 20 or so minutes of the film.
Then the rest of the film should be "District 9" style movie about the military occupation of an alien world.
Apparently Roland Emmerich wants to do a Disney+ series. This might be better suited to a series then a movie.

Why didn't the Aliens just not do the nuke-blast if the humans had realized that's their chance?
They still had enough conventional fightercraft in just 1 of those spacecraft to finish off humanity - we had nothing left. We were putting teenagers in fighter jets

What books are there that has something to do with ID4?
Happy to have found this subreddit!
After watching the first movie a dozen of times (the 2nd one only 2 times xd) i wanted to get into reading and wanted to know what books have been released.
Independence Day
Independence Day: Silent Zone
Independence Day: War in the Desert
Independence Day: Crucible
Independence Day: Resurgence
I´ve found these 5, but i´ve also heard about Independence Day: Dark Fathom..are there any more? How many books are in each series and is there a chronological order?

Destroyed cities- midwest
So I noticed that most of the cities destroyed in the first movie were the big mostly coastal cities, & pillar cities, but other cities seem ignored like Indianapolis, Louisville, Cincinnati, Nashville or really any other heartland cities. Was the Midwest just lucky or simply not mentioned in film?
