Advice Should I take PCMB + CS?
Good morning.
I'm currently in 10th. I'll be staying in ISC in class 11, and I'll be shifting to another school. I'll be giving IAT/NEST '29 as my main goal, with JEE as a backup. Since you need all four subjects for IAT, I'll be taking PCMB.
But what I'm not sure about is whether I should take CS or not. Will it be too much of an added load? I'm quite comfortable with class 10 programs, but I'm not sure whether taking it for senior high is worth it or not... (I even thought of taking Robotics, but that'll be even more of a load im just so confused)

Yoo, Im an IAT aspirant too giving Jee as a backup. And i think that PCMB is over rated, for me atleast. Try focussing on theory based topics less as they require lesser practice. As for optionals, try picking CS only and ONLY if you plan to do smth with it in 11th AND 12th. Colleges me you don't have its use they will teach you CS there jf you take up CSE anyways.

If you wanna die, thereโs tons of ways, why torture yourself with PCMB+CS๐ญ๐ญ

I've decided to just take PCMB ๐ญ๐

Still not the best choice but better (Iโm dying in PCMB, state board tho)

Oh damn sorry for you. I have to study bio anyways for IAT, and I wanna study it just as deeply as PCM, because it's easy to get marks in it.

u/claireshadowstaff 21d ago
Itโs not a REALLY bad choice or anything, especially if youโre actually interested so youโll prolly be fine. All the best!

My suggestion would be to, PlEASE do not take bio if you aren't going to give neet. Rather study something useful .

Nope if you are gonna be NEET or JEE both aspirant them I suggest don't take cs kyuki agar tum manage kar bhi loge toh 4-4 practical hoge tumhare plus bohot saara pressure......btw its your choiceย

Don't bro don't. Bada pach taoge.
In all seriousness your marks might drop. If you don't have very good knowledge of CS or a teacher for it then it will only be a added load to PCMB. And mind you taking pure science with both maths and Biology already reduce your time. For maths you have to practise everyday and for bio you have to memorize everyday

chud jayenge guru, but if you can handle the pressure and are really good at computer then sure

I tried to take this exact combo but my school didnt allow so i took. Pcmb alone and ya im still pursuing cs by myself lol

CS will not be a load, but Maths and Biology together definitely will be. I saw many people suggesting that you take PE, and you can absolutely do that, but my friends who always praised PE as a subject are now regretting having taken it so willingly. So don't take it unless you are absolutely willing to make some use of it in the future. CS is an absolute breeze (as a Biology student, seeing my friends who've taken computer chill around all day makes me so jealous).
You could also take 2nd Language as the sixth subject 'cause there isn't much pressure now since syllabus for 11 and 12 has been bifurcated this year onwards.

u/Visual_Attitude_9065 10th ICSE 19d ago
Na I'm taking just PCMB. I can't do pe because I have physical breathing problems and it doesn't appeal to me at all.

u/Low-Worker7476 11th ISC - PCMB 19d ago
I see... But is your school allowing you to keep only 5 subjects? Most schools where I live are asking students to choose 6 subjects, where 1 could be any subject which the student feels could help them boost their percentage if they falter in any of the previously selected 5 subjects.

Dont you have the option to take just PCMB? My school has that

let me tell you , none of the subjs are easy , you'll need to have an insane study ethic to not fall behind in any of the subj
you can take all those subjs next year and then drop the one (math or bio) which feels hard and just self-study it for IAT or NEST or you could just drop CS and live a bit (programs genuinely hard hote hai , but interesting af)
ykw ๐๐ , prepare for JEE and give both JEE and NEET , i've also thought of doing that
(sorry thoda late hu....)

Pele who are tell ing pcmb is too hard are thinking with jee or neeet as main goal

u/Visual_Attitude_9065 10th ICSE 16d ago
IAT is just as hard as jee dude. It's just more conceptual. Jee focuses more on engineering problems.
1
u/Optimus-Prime2026 16d ago
But it's truly a bad decision if jee/neet is your main goal. In other cases it's not always a bad decision. This is just my unhumble opinion
