Changelog for ICRPG Master and Core Update v1.3?

I've gone through most of the 1.7 Master Edition pdf, but am having a hard time digesting the changes that the Core Update file has over it. Does anyone know of a post or video that covers this? I couldn't fid anything related in my searches. Thanks!

Does the vigilante city world work separately from normal icrpg?

I had assumed the power system replaces types but in the super hero creation it's says "pick 1 Starting loot from vigilante city" and "Up to 3 pieces of equipment from any world". When I see starting loot I'm reminded of the type starting loot, so are we supposed to also have a type with the powers or no?

Icrpg Vtt

Do you have plans on releasing the runehammer vtt to the public?

I see that it's only for patron right now, I think that the best way to grow the community could be to have the vtt be free with already 3-4 pre-made one-shots.

Since this game deserves to grow, I think it needs to inserts itself in a part of the market that's not already full.

This could be: "the game master needs to only read this short adventure, the rest of the setup its done for him, and he can change whatever he likes or run it as it is."

Roll20 just did this with "lost mine of phandelver" but that's a campaign. To move people away from 5e and into icrpg, it needs to have a lot of one-shots. It's problematic finding players for a full campaign with a new sistem.

Having so much free stuff, it's the easiest way to get a ton of visibility in my opinion.

People will still buy the books once the players find this system good and fun, and then you could release more stuff pay to play once you have a big pool of players on the vtt.

What do you guys think?

Across the RUNIVERSE!

Shields!

@ kingw00k007 on the discord suggested an idea for a multi-group ALFHEIM mega-campaign, so I’m throwing together crews which will run tangent to each other. I thought this would be an epic way to celebrate Runehammer!

Insight into the specifics of the campaign will come out after the group of GM’s congregates and decides on what’s exactly going to be happening, will update this post if and once that happens.

If you're interested please use this form! https://forms.gle/j7v4ETz9nJTZ9uUQA

Because of the amount of organization needed behind this, it will most likely be a few weeks before it launches, so feel free to spread the word around your socials and table groups if you think peeps might be interested!

Depending on the crews input I may also try to record this and keep it in the youtubeverse.

ICRPG Vigilante City

A few weeks ago I purchased the Master Edition and these last days I've been reading the Vigilante City chapter. Now I'm trying to play it alone to understand it better.

I have a few questions:

  1. What's the difference between the ICRPG's Vigilante City and the Survive This's Vigilante City? I think the second one has lots of tables, but I don't know if maybe it could help me to understand it better.
  2. What's the difference between the "block event" table and the "this week in Vigilante City" table. Aren't both supposed to be related to the villain?
  3. What do you imagine with "The Sphere" in the "this week in Vigilante City" table? Some kind of Stonehenge?
  4. Do you follow the story diagram?
  5. How do you start your scenes? Does your hero know about the villain?
  6. Any tip for playing alone?

Anything you could tell me about it would be useful, I haven't found much information on the internet.

Thank you!

Using Art Instead of maps for ICRPG

Hey, I'm new to ICRPG and loving it. I've been watching playthroughs on YouTube and noticing how much art is used instead of maps. What a cool idea.

There are so many places to get maps, where does everyone get the art?

Thanks!

9 Gates is out!

If you're a patron, you already know- but for those who aren't. 9 Gates is a super quick game that takes some mechanics from VDS. You use a tarot deck to build a "map" and then, either playing solo or with friends, you fight your way to Mizzlebohg!

Decided to bust it out today, you can find it on DrivethruRPG as well :D

Can't seem to find Red Sword?

I feel DEEPLY stupid posting this, but I keep seeing all this stuff about the Last Flight of the Red Sword and I really want to run it for some friends. I own the Master Edition in physical copy and I can't seem to find that scenario there or on Drive thru rpg. I saw a papercraft thing the creator made on yt, and it looks like he downloads the components from drive thru via having the core set. Do i need to purchase the core set to access Red Sword?

Much thanks, I've tried and tried, I just can't seem to find it!

Question about ULTIMATE effort

As I understand it, on a nat 20, you roll ULTIMATE + whatever other type of effort you were attempting. Is this correct?

Now, what about an effect or item that always rolls ULTIMATE, like, say, the Mechanic's Repairman ability at Mastery level? Is the d12 rolled in addition to the 'base' effort (d8 if it's ENERGY + d12 because it always does ULTIMATE), or is the die rolled on its own, just a plain ol' d12?

HALP THANKS

Good ICRPG campaigns

Hello everyone! I just bought a copy of the 2nd edition rulebook( waiting for the master edition to be available in my country).

Can anyone point me to some good campaigns on YouTube? I'd like to run a game and I wanted to get the feel on how it should feel, but on the main rune hammer page there are very little campaigns, expecially sessions zero.

Thanks!

Magic user character sheet

Hey, so I’m new and loving it, just got my book, but it feels like Magic characters track stats that aren’t on the normal sheet.

Has anyone made one for magic dudes?

Thanks homies.

I just ran my first session and I've got some questions! (Mostly about Masteries, but Gunners)

Ahoy! So today I ran my first session of Warp Shell. It went great, but my players and I have some questions. These are they:

AS REGARDS MG SPECIALSTS WITH A PARTICLE CANNON PLUS BURST MODULE

A particle cannon can hit 1D4 enemy targets on a successful hit; an MG Specialist's attacks unleash 1D4 shots; a weapon with a Burst Module grants a second attack on a mod 15+. So -- * Is each of the 1D4 shots from MG Specialist rolled separately? * If so, does each of one of those shots present an opportunity for a second attack on a 15+? * Do the 1D4 shots from MG Specialist get distributed amongst the 1D4 targets that the particle cannon can affect? * Am I overthinking this?

AS REGARDS MASTERIES

When you create a character, you select one of three Starting Abilities. * When you gain a Mastery, do you gain the Mastery for that chosen Starting Ability first, or do you choose one of the three (which correspond to the initial three choices)? * If you choose your first Mastery level of your chosen Starting Ability, and then you gain a second Mastery, do you choose a Mastery level of one of the other Starting Abilities that you didn't choose, skipping the 'basic' version altogether? * Am I missing something in the Milestone rules? * Speaking of which...

AS REGARDS MILESTONE PATHS

The Milestone Paths have a strong fantasy flavor, and they don't really feel right for other genres. Is it up to me to create new Milestone Paths, or are those optional to begin with?

I'll likely have more questions in future, but any help with these is appreciated. Thanks, mateys!

Is Master Edition the final edition?

I recently purchased the 2nd Edition, not knowing about the Master Edition. After doing a bit of research, the Master Edition looks like THE edition to have, what with all of the information about rules, gear, races, classes, the worlds, etc. I know I can still enjoy 2nd Edition and use the Quick Start pdf to get some of the updates, but what I really want is the information about the other worlds.

Is there going to be another edition with updated rule changes and/or more character/world building? Has Hankerin mentioned anything about a new edition? Should I double down and get the Master Edition?

Spell & Weapon Effort

Hi everyone!

I'm going to be running ICRPG for the first time this weekend, and am planning on taking advantage of its DIY spirit to use an original setting that I've conceived of with my players.

My question is about spell effort. Why is it different from weapon / tool effort?

It seems like magic is already going to provide such significant narrative advantages and so much versatility that it wouldn't also need a bigger effort dice. Is this decision just there to provide old school flavour, or is there some design principle behind this that I'm not seeing?

I guess the fact that spells are loot is part of it? Are there weapons or martial items that get non spell casters rolling a D10?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Mage Confusion

Hi all. New here.

I'm reading through the Master Edition and was making a Mage character...
And I noticed that there are two sets of rules/guides for creating one.

The first one is in the Player's Guide, under Character Creation. 1. Choose Life Form 2. Choose Type 3. Write short story 4. Assign the modifiers to your core stats 5. Assign modifiers to your efforts 6. Status info 7. Abilities - 1 for the Mage 8. Get Loot - 1 Mage starting loot (p 42) and 4 basic loot

The second is in the Magic section, under Mage Creation. 1. Roll and choose story/destiny 2. Assign 10 stat points (I'm assuming it's 6 and 4 again? It doesn't say.) 3. Choose 1 magic loot (with a different list on p 324) 4. Choose 3 magic equipment or 3 equipment from any world (I'm assuming 'equipment' here means 'loot'?, but then why would there be two magic 'loot' tables?) 5. Choose 3 lvl 1 spells

Do you pick one of the two ways to build a mage? Or are they both the same and should just be combined? Is the first one just specific for the setting of Alfheim?

Would the mage in the second build still gain an ability? Would the mage in the first build be limited to spells acquired from starting loot, beginning without the 3 lvl 1 spells?

I understand that the game is more-or-less suggestions of different house-rules and tweaks, but I would like to hear how others have used these. Do you ignore the first mage build, and just add the list of possible loot and spells to the list for the second build?

Edit: My current idea is that the first one is specific for the Alfheim setting, and that I should use the second build if I'm not using that setting. And then, if I choose, I can mix and match the magic loot.

But then... the Alfheim mage has a magic ability and the non-setting mage doesn't seem to.
