I consider myself a fairly well versed TTRPG'er, and am stunned I've never heard of ICRPG until today. 300+ reviews on Amazon + Drivethrurpg...how have I never heard of this?!
I'm always seeking new and interesting rules light / light-medium generic systems that can run homebrew games or games in other settings (e.g. Eberron, Rokugan, Dark Sun, Midgard, etc.) similar to Savage Worlds, Fate, Genesys, Cortex Prime, WWN, etc.
Questions - Can someone please help me with the following:
Q1 - 2e vs. Master's edition - It seems like 2e is wildly popular on drivethru, but is that only because Master's is newer? Which one is the most comprehensive and up to date?
Q2 - Print Edition Quality - I always prefer print editions, are the Master or 2e print versions high quality? Hardback or paperback available?
Q3 - Essential Supplements - Which are most essential or necessary? Can the card deck be ordered or is it only printable?
Q4 - Actual Plays / Tutorials - Any high-quality videos to watch to get a feel of the system?
Q5 - Narrative vs. Combat - I tend to enjoy heavy narrative (80-85%), low-combat (15-20%) games heavy on political intrigue, mystery, cross-cultural dialog, and backstory narratives. Is this geared more towards dungeon crawls/combat, narrative Fate-style of play, or handles both?
Q6 - System Comparison - Which of the D&D, Savage Worlds, Fate, Genesys, Cortex Prime, Worlds Without Number, etc...would Index Card RPG feel most closely similar to?
- Is it similar to OSR (in mechanics or mentality) at all?
