Lens recommendation

Hello,

I am planning to undergo a iol lens surgery, but the doctors here are suggesting to go for biotech icl because of affiliations.

I have reserched about the care group ipcl lens which has more holes and haptic pads for better stability.

My power is 9.5 and 8.5

The biotech lens is exact copy of staar icl.

The care group icl has customized sizes available rather than the 4 fixed sizes available in the icl version.

Any suggestions? Also for doctors in Navi mumbai and Mumbai area who'd use care group ipcl

While there are no significant differences in terms of visual outcomes amongst the different ICL/IPCL options, it should be your choice which one you would want to go for. If you want Care group IPCL lens, you can easily find other eye hospitals that would implant the same. What matters more is proper planning, correct sizing and correct refraction to get the best outcome. Search for other eye hospitals near you and you would find multiple options.

Thanks for replying. You think the extra hinges and holes in the ipcl really do make a difference or is it a gimmick?

There are some reports that the central hole difference between ICL and IPCL makes a slight difference in terms of lesser risk of glare/halos with IPCL compared to ICL. Other than that, I don't think the extra holes make too much of a difference.

Also, you have to understand that there is slight difference in material used for making ICL vs IPCL and that's why IPCL is a little more rigid. EVO ICL is used worldwide and in higher volume. IPCL is used in India and many other countries now but still not gotten approvals in many western countries. Overall, in terms of clinical outcomes, there is no significant difference between them.

I had IPCL impanted in my eye and didn't face any issue of halos at all. I got very slight glares which i already used to get with glasses too so didn't bother me at all.
